Author's summary: When the world's an empty, dead place, you hold on tight to what you've got.
Clint's never been one to thrive in a vacuum. It's a good thing, then, that he found this shack out in the middle of nowhere.
Based off of this art by eWKn.
Review:
I'm head over heels for these characters -- their histories, relationships, and the way they deal with their screwed up, empty world. With all the fan works I found to love during our December hiatus, it was this I wanted to share first.
We start with Clint wandering alone in a post-Hydra Colorado, with only a little AI rover for company for the past year. When even the rover dies, he's lucky enough to come across Tony and Bruce -- still with the arc reactor and 'green guy', but for different reasons here. Eventually they're joined by Phil, an extremely advanced artificial intelligence.
Things to love: the slow build toward trust between these characters, the thoughtful consideration of AI rights and what it means to have personhood, the romantic relationship that grows between Phil and a very pro-AI Clint, and the character of Phil himself, since he's so well written. There's also the great established relationship Tony and Bruce have going. Then there's suspense, action, friendship, back stories that make a lot of sense, the angst of dealing with marked PTSD and with Clint's concerns about consent, and the joy of creating something like a family together.
It's rich with great moments and well thought out plot and themes.

Summary:It took a special kind of crazy to break into a superhero's apartment and make yourself a pot of his coffee, and a special kind of skill to avoid the various booby traps that said superhero had installed in his apartment after consultation with a technical genius and a super-spy. Kate kind of wished that she'd called Natasha after all.
Review: I love the new Hawkeye comics a ton, and Laura Kaye's Kate Bishop voice is just awesome. Sarcastic and smart she has a great outsider POV on Clint and Coulson's Relationship and this fic does a great job bridging the gap between the comics and the movie.

Summary: When Clint is a boy he learns to keep out of sight, how to read situations, and how to put others before himself. When Clint is a young man, he gets shot by Agent Phil Coulson, and he learns to put those skills to use.
Clint's formative years, his work with Trickshot, and his long history with SHIELD. The Avengers will be a thing, but their coming together diverges from the movie canon.
Review: This is a superlong and detailed characters study of Clint Barton. It follows him from his boyhood all the way until he joins the Avengers.
What makes this fic so interesting is that it's told in an expanded version of the short story form. Kind of like a piece of origami. Each of the short bits of time in Clint's life, show a bit more about him, and through all of them you get a full picture of who he is.
This is one of my favorite styles of writing and one of the hardest to get right. Because it's easy to make the jumps between scenes to sharp and jarring. Something that never happens in Watch and Learn. Even when weeks or months slip by between the scenes, TamrynEradani always manages to weave you into the story so that you know exactly where and when you are.

Summary: Clint’s spent years training himself out of the century-old instinct all betas have to obey alphas, and hiding how good a shot he is – after all, no one expects a beta to excel at anything. All that changes when he attracts the attention of Nick Fury, who recruits him into SHIELD. Then he meets Phil Coulson, and everything gets even more out of control.
(or: the omega fic where no one is an omega)
Review: Please be aware of the warnings. This isn't a dark fic, but it might be triggery since Clint has some fear-based sexual issues.
What I like about Alpha/Beta/Omega fics is how they can handle social commentary in a way that makes you think about how things are in our world. Beta does a particularly good job of this, because it addresses the issue of characters that are inherently talented, but are taught to hide it from those around it.
Nick Fury is awesome in this. Probably the most believable, yet sympathetic, version of him I've seen. All of the Alpha/Beta/Omega designations make since and fit well with the different character's personality types, and Clint's strong voice holds the whole fic together.
If you've got a soft spot for Omega-verse like I do, this is definitely a great read.

Summary: When he takes the rap for a crime committed by Barney and the Swordsman, Clint is charged as an adult at 17 and spends the next four years of his life without protection in prison. Enter one Neal Caffrey, who knows how to charm his way to whatever he wants or needs, and Clint's life gets a lot more interesting. Pretty much, the story of Clint in prison, Clint getting out, and Clint, like always, finding his way to SHIELD, and Phil.
Review: This is dark and scary and not at all my usual type of story as you can probably tell by the long list of warnings. But what it does have is an awesome amount of hope and a lovely happy ending(with domesticity).
This is hurt/comfort fic taken to the extreme while still managing to keep everyone very much in character despite merging two fandoms and providing alternate origin stories for half of the characters. It's an amazing and sweet and if your not easily squicked or if you are willing to skim over the areas that are extremely violent then I definitely recommend this story!

Steve Rogers is no stranger to the silver screen.
Review:
I loved the concept of this story, bridging off from a small segment of the Captain America movie and expanding on it. Each segment is terrific, bringing the team closer together and educating Steve on the ways society has changed since he was frozen.
The story is well written and engaging. There’s plenty of humor and banter between the characters (I always love Bruce and Tony and the author does a great job with those two), but there are also some more poignant parts when touching on Natasha’s background and Steve’s views on sexuality. I liked the juxtaposition of the beginning and the end with Steve going from living alone in an apartment in Brooklyn simply because that’s where he grew up to the quiet domesticity of him cooking and singing in his home.

Phil has control issues, Clint has power issues, and the Avengers are a bundle of issues. It’s no wonder Maria wants nothing to do with them. Phil doesn’t seem to have a choice.
Review:
One of my obstacles when it comes to Clint/Coulson fic is the power difference between the two characters and the first reason I adored this fic is because it didn’t shy away from that differential and addressed it. The second reason I adored this fic was the friendships among the support personnel. Maria, Darcy, and Phil going out and drinking together is my new headcanon. The third reason I adored this fic was that it addressed how tough it is for Coulson to actually corral and handle the Avengers team. The author does a great job showing a more human side of Coulson. He gets angry and pissed off at the team and has to deal with those feelings, which he does, in a very realistic manner.
I like the writing style, and the way not everything is laid out for you, there are histories and such for the reader to extrapolate. Overall an enjoyable and satisfying read.

This fic is so great I'm reccing it only one day after it has been posted. What can I say, it's just a long entertaining fic with a bit of everything you might enjoy.
On one hand, you can enjoy this story with no knowledge of "Grimm" and only a few notions from "The Avengers". But if you know both, Coulson's line about a "cellist in Portland" is just the best thing ever. This crossover is well-balanced, and neither fandom is forgotten.
On the other hand, the plot is very well-written and the developments are amazing. The succession of actions is well-thought and you can see everything happening. The sum of details is just wonderful.
Finally, the characters are just amazing. The friendships and romances (past and present) are well-done. And the evolutions of all those relationships are never rushed. And you really feel for the characters.

Summary: Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick.
And some things shouldn't be a chore.
Review: This is my new head-canon for the Avengers series. The team is hillarious and marvelously in character; Tony's crazy isn't downplayed but it also isn't turned into an angst fest. From Calsifer the toaster to the Roomba Legion of Doom, the friends Tony builds are all awesome and used to good effect. They all serve to advance the plot, rather than just acting as pets.
Also there is Clint wearing a jeweled crown, Exploration of Bartonia, Tony and Steve being failboats at each other, a shield plan for when Tony goes Super-villain, and Coulson being forced to put up with the adoption of a Roomba Baby.
In Which Tony Stark Builds Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned by Nick Fury)
