Sorry for not posting last week. I had once more problems with my internet provider. Hopefully it shouldn't happen anymore as I switched for a new one last friday.

Title : Monroe's Fairytale Halfway House
Fandom: Grimm
Pairing: Nick Burckhardt/Monroe, Roddy Geiger/Barry Rabe
Categories: Domestic, familly, first time, fluff, kidfic
Length: Medium (8034 words)
Warnings: N/A

Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: mrsvc

Summary:
Monroe looks at Nick, with his bright blue eyes and his silly teenage boy hair cut, and he thinks maybe it isn't so silly, that Barry thought they were together. It should be ridiculous, a Grimm and a Blutbad, and it kind of was, but right now, Monroe saw it as a whole different type of hilarious. It was trying to find every one's shoes at night when Barry and Roddy left to go out to eat, or slipping a few dollars in Gracie's pocket before she and Hansen left in the morning. It was Holly curled up on the floor with her head on Nick's knee waiting for her mom to come pick her up. It was beers at midnight, when the house was quiet, and coffee in the morning when it wasn't so peaceful.

Review:
Here is a well-written fic showing Nick and Monroe dealing with what happens after the cases mainly with the different teenage wesen they meet through the serie.
I really enjoy the interactions between all the characters. The way the author makes them becoming a family in spite of -or maybe because of- their differences is especially well-done. The dialogs are spot on and the relationships between Nick, Monroe and the kids are well-crafted. The secondary characters are great and really add to the story.
I also greatly enjoy the pace of this sweet domestic fic. The story never feels rushed which is quite a feat to accomplish in less than 10000 words.

Fandom: Sherlock

Categories: Fluff, domestic, first time, romance
Length: Medium (5183 words)

Summary:
People don't touch Sherlock Holmes, not like they touch other people.
Then he meets John Watson.

Review:
After a few complicated days at work, I was looking for some heart-warming and fluffy fics to read and here is one of the gems I went back to. I just love the slow pace of this story which is matching the evolution of Sherlock and John's relationship. The main characters are quite recognizable and the rest of the cast is just spot on. Just look at Mrs. Hudson and Sally Donovan...
The writing is gorgeous, showing the delicacy of the feelings between the different characters while never being over the top. It's just one of those perfect stories you want to read at home with a hot drink, hiding from the rest of the world.

Title : Just a memory away
Fandom: Glee
Pairing: Noah Puckerman/Kurt Hummel
Categories: Alternate Universe, Angst, Harlequin, Humor, Kid, Mpreg, Romance
Length: Epic (43083 words)
Warnings: N/A

Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: breea1

Summary:
Puck is a cop who is assigned to investigate some vandalism at boutique owner's Kurt Hummel's store. Kurt is horrified to see him appear some years after their anonymous hook up in a club resulted in the birth of his young son and does everything he can to avoid the studly detective. Puck has no memory of him and is baffled by Kurt's nervous reaction to him but is interested enough to try and get to the bottom of whatever Kurt is trying to hide.

Review:
I hesitate for the longest time about which fic I could rec for our Harlequin theme week when I suddenly remember this story I read a long time ago on lj. I was quite happy to find it had been posted on AO3 recently.
You find here some of the best Harlequin clichés with a slight twist as it's a slash pairing with a male pregnancy. I love Puck as a cop with amnesia, Kurt as a competent shop owner and protective father.
Both Puck and Kurt are in characters while being quite true to the particularities of this AU. The rest of the cast is also well represented.
All in all, this fic is well-written, the dialogs are really well-done and it's a great Harlequin's adaptation.

Summary:
Fame, travel, marriages successful and failed, children...maybe it's purely by the force of Rachel's personality, but somehow they remain friends.

Review:
The Bodyguard is a movie I can't help watching when it happens on TV. What can I say I'm not afraid of cliché and this film is one of my all-time favorite.
This fic is what I hope happened after the end. It's full of heartwarming feelings and realistic details.
And the storytelling is just amazing. Tvashti has a real gift for giving life to Rachel's voice.
I also love how the friendship between Rachel and Frank rings very much true and survives all the hardships they met.

Labyrinth crossover. Mycroft wishes nine-year-old Sherlock away to the goblins. This turns out to be a mistake for everyone involved. Jareth suffers the most.

Review:
I'm presenting a short fic today but it made me laugh a few days ago and I didn't want to miss reccing it.
I often enjoy well-plotted crossover. And this one, while completely crack-ish is very well-done. The author ties the plots of both fandoms with ease.
Goldenusagi created great dialogs. Both Sherlock and Mycroft are very much in characters. And the banter between all the characters is spot on.
If you want to have fun, just go. You won't regret it.

Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson

Length: Long (28236 words)
Warnings: Torture, mention of dub-con sex with underage characters. Deaths of secondary characters.

Summary:
Mycroft gives Sherlock the apparently simple task of solving a puzzle box containing a stolen microchip. It isn't simple.

Review:
Here is one of the best case file of this fandom. The plot is amazing and very believable. The author takes a few scenes from the first season and runs with them in the best way possible.
The characterizations are spot on. Sherlock, John and Mycroft are well-crafted as are the different OCs. The dialogs really add to the story line and are well-written.
While this fic goes through some really dark places (just look at the warnings please), it's also funny, romantic and hot and it does have a happy ending. If you haven't read it yet, what are you still doing here? And if you did, you should take the time to read it once more...

Categories: First time, Friendship, Future fic, Humor, Post canon
Length: Medium (9981 words)

Author on LJ: N/A

Summary:
Of course Dustin has probably the only car in the world that reads you your Facebook newsfeed. Of course he does. (and when Mark and Eduardo get stuck in it together, they end up saying a lot without ever speaking a word.)

Review:
This story kind of hits all the things I like in a good fix-it story. I love the snark, the banter, the way the author makes us understand what the characters are feeling with small touches.
I greatly enjoyed the way fairy_tale_echo crafted her characters. Mark and Eduardo are well done and their emotions rings very much true but what really moved me was the way Chris and Dustin were portrayed. They are truly amazing in this story. The author has a gift for showing the different sides of her characters while keeping them very much in character.
The story line is fun and in a very good way slightly crackish. But the true force of this fic is the interactions between the characters.

Review:
I'm still on my Devil wears Prada kick so here comes another rec in this fandom.
In this well-written fic, Fictorium draw a beautiful picture of Miranda and Andrea and of their evolving relationship. I just love how her characters are getting deeper and deeper all through this story. It's especially the case for Andrea and Miranda but also for Emilie which is one of the true gems of this fic.
The plot is very interesting and really draws the characters together. I just love seeing these sides of Miranda, a bit more vulnerable but still strong and of Andrea, as a competent journalist and sure of herself. The whole cast is well-written and adds to the realization of this story. It's truly a great read.

Summary:
Post Obsession Conversation: Gibbs and Tony have a rather revealing conversation following the events of Obsession. Picks up from the end of the episode.
Figuring It Out: Gibbs and Tony try to figure out where their relationship is headed after the revelations in Gibbs' basement. The team helps. Sometimes funny, sometimes serious.
Second Law: Gibbs and Tony continue to settle in to their new relationship and try to balance all the different aspects of their lives. As before, the team helps. Sometimes funny, sometimes not.

Review:
Here is a very nice verse following the Obsession episode during season 4.
The first fic is a perfect following to this episode. Their conversation is amazing and really show the connection between Gibbs and DiNozzo.
The second and third stories follow their growing relationship and deal with their lives in private and in their workplace. The problems are clearly posed and the author never shy away from them.
I really loved the athmosphere of this verse. The whole NCIS cast is well crafted. And the charaters are very much in character.
The cas files are also very realistic and well-written.
It's trully a must read in the NCIS fandom.

Here is a short crossover melding nicely Ocean's 11 and the Bourne movies.
I really enjoyed how the author manages in such few words to make this crossover believable.
I loved the way you can literally feel the friendship going between Jason and Linus and between Danny and Rusty but you can also feel how the future relationships between Ocean's 11 casts will play later.
The banter between Jason and Linus is great. And the last line, showing the deep of their friendship is really great.

Review:
I watched "The devil wears Prada" with a good friend a few days ago... and then spent most of my week end looking for good fics. What can I say? This movie is one of my (many) guilty pleasures. And I just love Meryl Streep and her by-play with Anne Hathaway.

In this serie of fics, Chilly Flame (aka Harriet) explores a universe were Miranda and Andy reconnect after the end of the movie. The evolution of their relationship from ex-coworkers to friends to lovers is very well-done. The action is never rushed and both women stay in character while getting more depth. The secondary cast is also well-written especially Miranda's twins, Doug and Nigel.
I also enjoyed how the author doesn't shy away from the problems arising from Andy and Miranda relationship: their previous working relationship, their age gap, the scandal of two "straight" women getting together, their "coming-out", the opinion of the other people once outed...
It's a very interesting verse with 4 full stories and an interlude than anyone with a slight knowledge of "The devil wears Prada" can enjoy.

Summary:
Now, sitting by the fire in 221B, John was aware of nothing so much as the ultimate irony that something that he’d made as a boy of seventeen, hundreds of miles away, had been hanging on the wall right below him all this time and he’d never known.
In which John once had a successful hobby that he never told Sherlock about, until one day, there's a crash from Mrs. Hudson's flat..

Review:
Wood work is an arc exploring the hidden face of John Watson in 2 delightful stories.
I really like the relationships between the different characters in these two fics. Each character is clearly recognizable but deepened by chappysmom's work.
I also enjoyed the amount of details chappysmom used while describing each characters' hobbies.
As I like John's character a lot in the BBC verse, I really loved those well-written John-centric pieces. And seeing him here as a fully competent man is quite wonderful.
