Title: Confusion and Consequences
Fandom: Haven
Pairing: Audrey Parker/Duke Crocker/Nathan Wuornos
Categories: casefile, threesome, genderswap (sort of), polyamory, established relationship (het), first time (threesome)
Length: Long, 20,765 words
Warnings: I'm... not sure how to warn. Duke and Nathan end up with some girl parts, but not completely genderswapped, and the fic revolves around the issues of masculinity and sexuality that come out of that. If that's likely to be a problem or potentially triggery in some way, don't go there? There's also a warning for mild mind control, but it doesn't go too far with anything happening consent issues-wise in terms of the main trio. There are maybe a few potentially triggery things happening in the background with the other people affected by the gendermixing Trouble.

Summary: Nathan thought he had seen everything until a half naked woman walks up to him claiming to be Duke Crocker....

Review: “It’s Haven. Trans hate is the least of our worries...”

Oh, I enjoyed the hell out of this one. Last week I was emailing the link to friends after I read it, so it's still pretty hot off the presses. Yes, there is the odd typo and grammar hiccup, but really, with all the other goodies on offer here, I find myself disinclined to care about those.

I love the stuff that really digs into the questions of sexuality and masculinity and sexual dysfunction and this goes there and then some, as this particular Trouble turns Haven upside-down and Duke and Nathan end up kind of not their usual manly selves. The fic is told from Nathan's point of view, and I love the POV -- getting to watch him angst in his low-key way about all these things, weird sexual situations and hangups and shame, is entirely wonderful. I also love how his senses are used in interesting ways in the smut. :)

The fic is established Audrey/Nathan leading into an Audrey/Duke/Nathan threesome, and while usually I'm more partial to the latter and the Duke/Nathan dynamic, I've seldom loved Audrey and Nathan's relationship more than the way it's presented here. They are so understanding of each other, and such good friends as well as lovers, who talk about all the knotty things and work through the changes that have happened to Nathan's body and how those effect their sexual relationship. And how they make the decision together when it comes to taking Duke on... they are so sweet and down to earth in this.

Anyway, this is just so hot and odd and interesting, with such a good POV, and the issues of gender and questioning sexuality I felt were nicely dealt with.

Categories: Action Adventure, Friendship, First Time, Hurt/Comfort
Length: Long (20k)
Warnings: Off screen torture

Author on LJ: http://thingswithwings.dreamwidth.org/

Summary: Eliot's their hitter, and taking on any physical threats to the team is his job, but there's something beyond professionalism – even beyond the obvious fact that Eliot relishes the fight itself – in the way he puts his body between Parker or Alec and any potential threat. Alec has a good view of Eliot's back on a lot of jobs, and he reads something in the tight line of Eliot's shoulder, in the slow turn of his foot as he steps into a fighting stance.

Something possessive.

Review: This is an interesting take on both a post-canon fic and a fic for our favorite trio of thieves to get together.

Even though the fic is narrated from Alec's POV, it is very much centered around Eliot and his changing role in the team. I'm glad to see it after the recklessness that was shown in the Rundown Job, our only Canon evidence of how a team of just Eliot, Alec, and Parker would function.

The romance is nice and slow building, and different enough to feel right for people who see the world as differently as Parker and Eliot seem to. The first fic covers their getting together.

The second fic in the series is kink heavy so make sure you read the tags

Summary: The one thing they realized early on, about this relationship they figured out between all three of them, is that there was no way they could live together.

Review: This is just a lovely look at the Audrey/Duke/Nathan relationship examined through the lens of their living spaces, and the living practicalities of a three way relationship outside of the sex. I love that it's dealing with them as three different relationships between two people as well a relationship between three people. The acceptance in general here that people need space, even people who love each other, and particularly accepting Nathan still needing his own space and not having his quieter and less-social tendencies magically 'fixed' by being in a relationship with two more outgoing partners. How the character of the spaces they choose for their own illuminates the characters, and how the ways they collectively choose to spend their time in each defines the relationship(s).

Also, this fic may manage to lay out my ideal Haven future and conclusion to the series. No perfect endings and answers, but a continuation of their adventures while moving and changing at the same time.

Summary: Farther along // we'll know all about it // farther along // we'll understand why. Nathan, Duke and Audrey realize that they're stronger together.

Review: A while back I did propose to occasionally rec media, and since I posted earlier than usual, I figured I'd post a media rec, too.

We’re all cast-aways in need of ropes
Hangin’ on by the last threads of our hope
In a house of mirrors full of smoke
Confusing illusions I have seen...

Vidded to a beautiful song by Josh Garrels, this vid begins slowly showing Audrey alone with her personal mysteries, but soon opens out into exploring her relationships with Duke and Nathan, separately and together, their own t(T)roubles and mysteries, and the connection between the three of them... And how very important they are to each other, together through thick and thin, arrayed against the backdrop of the Troubles and the other less supernatural tensions of the town of Haven.

It's a couple of years old now so it doesn't cover the recent seasons 4 and 5(a). In fact, I think it makes quite the taster for the show, skirting the mysteries without too many concrete spoilers (just confusing/unreliable ones), and yes, these people are beautiful together and, yes, this show has one of the most convincing potential OT3s on television. Definitely a favourite.

Summary: Juice is a little boy in a big man's world. Since he so clearly just wants a loving family, we gave him a hot Mommy AND Daddy.

The Juice-centric fix-it AU to end all fix-it AUs for this fandom. This is nothing but gratuitous gratification of our desire to see Juice and Gemma happy, functional, and loved. You don't even have to have watched the series to understand this fic, it bears almost no resemblance to canon anyway.

Review: This is a wonderfully indepth contemporary romance story. The authors do a great job in defining the difference in each narrator and character.

I love all the details they packed into creating a healthy well-balanced relationship for all the characters, without sacrificing realistic misunderstandings and issues with someone entering a new non-traditional relationship. Particularly someone who never planned or had any experience in either the BDSM or LGBTQ communities before.

This is definitely a Explicit story and one that has a lot of varied kinks, so please make sure to read through the fic's tags before you start the story.

“And I just thought you should hear it from a trusted source first, before it gets all over town.”
Nathan pauses with his cup halfway to his mouth. “What do you mean you saw Duke and Audrey… together?"
“Together.” As if that clarifies everything. He must still look mystified because she lowers her voice and elaborates: “Kissing.”
He chokes on the cookie, coughing and grinning as she slaps him on the back.

Review:

This one was hot off the presses last weekend and I wanted to rec it before I'd even finished it. And for this reason I am reccing Haven again this week instead of introducing more variety.

Explaining to a town full of busybodies that you're in a polyamorous relationship? Not easy. Explaining it to a woman who's been like a grandmother to you most of your life? Nathan finds that's next to impossible.

This is a wonderfully lively five-things format story, which humorously covers the misadventures of sustaining an unconventional relationship in Haven under the misunderstanding eyes of the well-meaning, helpful, nosy, or occasionally just plain offensive residents of the rest of the town. The stories are all quite different, exploring the relationships between the central trio in a variety of combinations and situations as all and sundry completely and utterly fail to grasp the right end of the stick as to the nature of the Audrey/Duke/Nathan relationship. There's a bit of danger and a bit of smut thrown in at points along the way. Duke gets kidnapped by thugs in one story. Epic car sex occurs in another. And Nathan Wuornos faced with trying to explain his threesome relationship to nosy old ladies will never not be hilarious.

There is a slightly darker side to this one, where the part that's often glossed over in Haven OT3 fic, that not everyone is going to take this style of relationship well, is portrayed here, and the trio don't exist in a world where their lifestyle is comfortable and acceptable to everyone else and the issues are addressed head-on.

NC-17 for the last part(ficlet) only. Set in a vague future where the current season's issues are resolved.

Review: This isn’t a serious story, but it is so cute and fluffy that it is my catnip. No pun intended.

A shapeshifter AU where Brian runs away from home, falls in love, and then falls in love again. So that he, Carter, and Torettos all get to be one big furry family.

The plot is a little predictable and fast moving, but its a nice fast paced read.

Review: Zombie Apocalypse Smallville Style. This is a slow building story even though it is very short. Lex, Chloe, and Clark get locked in the castle with no way out.

They don’t have enough time or people to make a new society, so instead they create a co-dependent trio of survivors with no real future except in each other.

The writing is tight and I love how the apocalypse doesn’t fix everything and make everybody ready to work together, even though they don’t really have a choice.

Ragnar and Lagertha have been waiting for the third member of their bond for years and started to despair that they might ever find him. But when the summer raids bring Ragnar west to Lindisfarne, everything changes.

Review: I'm a sucker for soulbond stories, particularly when the relationship still takes time to build. This is a bittersweet love story. Samyazaz does a great job in showing the different religious differences between the characters cultures. I usually don't like the angst caused by lack of communication between the people in a relationship, but Samyazaz keeps the plot from getting bogged down by the lack of communication.

I particularly enjoyed all the work put into the little details about culture. There is a lot of death, and cultural hang ups so if you are sensitive to that sort of thing, read with caution.

Summary:Riddick and Johns have a plan for getting the First Among in their bed. That's not their only challenge ruling over the Necros. Together they must face the Underverse and what that will mean for the fleet as a whole, as well as their own futures.

Review: This is a nice long post Chronicles of Riddick fic for those of you who like me wanted to see more of how Riddick would handle being Lord Marshall of the Necromonger fleet. (Also there is some very nice steamy threesome action)

In this AU, Johns became Riddick's mate instead of dying in Pitch Black, which has cost a host of tiny differences between the timeline in the Riddick movies, and the timeline in the fic.

By the time the story starts, they are both established with the necros, and are ready to add Vaako to their relationship. The main plot follows Vaako's coming to grips with this change and falling in love with Riddick and Johns. There are also some lovely sub-plots that delve deeper into the Necromonger societal structure, and Riddick's true purpose for being prophesied to lead the Necros. All together it is a nice feel good romance, with enough action and plot twists to keep you glued to your screen.

And the fourth time, he and Alicia collect him from the park.

Review: This fic isn't one I recommend reading if you are particularly sensitive to mental health issues and self harm/neglect. Pete is in a really low place, when Mikey and Alicia find him.

Mikey and Alicia are awesome in this fic, taking charge and helping Pete back onto his feet, without ever making it anybody's fault that things have gotten bad. If you love a good hurt/comfort that will make you feel warm and fuzzy this is a great fic, but definitely keep in mind that it is hurt/comfort, revolving around mental issues

Summary:Serial Killer AU

There's a serial killer lose in Gotham City. Since when is that news? There have always been no end to killings in Gotham. John Blake has made a hobby out of trying to gather all of the information on them that he can while he's still working his way through the police academy. Everyone needs a hobby, right?

Unfortunately John is a little too smart for his own good at times.

Review: This is an interesting take on the Serial Killer AU trope. The main character arc, isn't about the serial killer (Or rather the family of serial killers), but instead about John Blake's coming to a place where he can accept his new family's issues.

Menirva is one of my favortie author's because she does an amazing job, writing from mulitple viewpoints, and using this writing style to give a larger view of the world, than any one character could give themselves.

This is particularly obvious in this story, because each of the different family members has a different reason, and view of killing, and why it is necessary. Also Bane and 'Tommy' are split personalities, both of whom get their time in the spotlight, and have different opinions and motivations.

This is a nice, fast paced read, that you can enjoy even if you're not familiar with the Batman Begins fandom, though you might miss a few of the easter egg call backs, though not the one about Bruce Wayne's weapon of choice being a Baseball Bat

Review: This is one of the best 'real life' stories I've read in a long time. Which is really impressive coming from the Adventure Time fandom, since it takes place in a post-apocalyptic magical candy/vampire reality.

Gumball is so awesome and Faorism does a great job both taking into consideration what a pink and prim young human in our reality might experiences, and the timing involved with growing up as a teen in the early nineties.

Also awesome is the fact that she doesn't shy away from making the characters something other than traditionally attractive, while still keeping them to their original roots. Just wait till you run into LSP!

Even if you don't know much about Adventure Time, you might want to give the story a try. It's fairly self-contained. Though you might miss out on some of the fannish easter eggs.

Review: Menirva has a real knack for writing sarcastic characters that I can't seem to resist reading. Also coffe!shop AUs and Domesticity are my guilty pleasure.

So a fic that mixes together coffee smoothie shops, threesomes, and sweet romance with League of Shadows members Bane, Basard, and Talia, well let's just say I couldn't resist.

That being said the first couple chapters revolve around sexy-times and oowy-goowy romance, before you get to the plot. It's necessary for the plot though, so try not to let it scare you off.

Unit Chief and pack leader Aaron Hotchner has his own set of worries. In between balancing the demands of the job with the needs of his pack he does his best to keep everyone safe and well. The members of his pack sometimes make this more of a challenge than he could have ever anticipated.

Review: I'm a complete sucker for Threesomes which was why I was hooked on this story just by reading the summary. It's the kind of story where Spencer is brought into the BAU by Gideon but the thing is, they're shifters. This fic showcases different cases the BAU is brought in to investigate and while I lament at the fact that though cases are developed, they aren't very, very explored. But the main theme of this fic is the relationships between the pack, specifically the emerging relationship between Hotch, Spencer and Derek.

Summary: A one-night-stand becomes a whole lot more. If only life were that simple.

Review: I basically re-read this fic twice, back to back, because it was just so much fun! It takes place after the end of the Loser's movie and during an alternate time-line ending for the Leverage.(If you haven't seen the end of Leverage you won't be spoiled, since this was written before that came out.)

Jensen and Carlos pick Eliot up for a one night stand and everything spirals out from there. What I like so much about this completely impossible pairing is that in Carlos and Jensen, Eliot is able to find people who can match him for dangerous and who he doesn't have to hide from.

It's a nice change of pace from a lot of the Eliot/Hardison/Parker stories I've read where Eliot tries to forget about or downplay his past.

Even though you don't see them for most of the story Hardison and Parker are still awesomely bad-ass and In character. The story isn't as dark as the warnings make it out to be, but that being said please read with caution.
