Summary: In which the Pevensies trip, fall, and somehow end up in Torchwood. It's not Susan's fault she shot an alien that was trying to kill Jack Harkness.
Review: This story takes place in the same universe as the National Service Series I recced three years ago, but it can easily be read independently.

This is a fun and fast-moving fic that explores the idea of a Pevensie family that survived post Narnia and what they would do if they fell into the Torchwood Continuum. Particularly what the younger three Pevensies would do with Jack Harkness.

Usually in Torchwood fics Jack is seen as this kind of imovable force because he’s lived so long, so it is interesting to see him run into a bunch of young adults that have lived multiple lives in multiple worlds and don’t give him any kind of respect he doesn’t earn first.

The plot is pretty much episodic and it moves quickly to the point that sometimes things get forgotten along the way but it is tons of fun if you are looking for a bunch of capable, irreverent, damaged people saving the day.

Summary:Soon, all Edmund's memories of Narnia will blur together. For now, he remembers Caspian.

Edmund goes back to his own world, but Caspian must live the rest of his life with the pain of being in love with two people.

Review: It's always a joy when I find a good solid Chronicles of Narnia fic. And Memories is one of the best I've read in a long time. The characterization is superb and the unusual format does a great job of telling the story around the story that we find in the Narnia Books.

The second story in particular does an amazing job of reconciling the two portions of Caspian's life that we see in The Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair.

A multi-fandom vid for [livejournal.com profile] halfamoon's celebration of female characters.

Review:
calapine makes an unconventional but beautiful choice with her song, and for something so epic in scope, she makes it impactful on a personal scale as well, and deeply uplifting. This tribute is amazing not only for its subject matter, but also for its diversity. Women are not just awesome when they are gorgeous and kick-ass and come out with both guns blazing, but they're also awesome when they're doing science experiments, or being brave, or making difficult decisions.

Women can be some of the most harshly judged characters on screen -- because often, women are their own harshest critics. This vid highlights some unexpected choices, and reminds us that every single woman is more than just the few seconds we see them on screen -- they each have their own stories.

Summary: Susan is not asked to identify the bodies.

Review: This is probably the second shorteset fic I've ever reced on epic recs. But while not very epic in terms of length it is epic in scope.

This fic deals with Susan, after the events of the last battle. And what it meant for her to be left behind without even her trust in Aslan to see her through. It's the type of story that makes you think about canon in a whole new way.

The spare language and the way everything is so vibrantly described, makes the story seem to last a lot longer than the few hundred words. Please be warned though, that there are spoilers for Last Battle, so if you haven't read that book you might want to consider passing this story by.

Summary: On the wall behind the High King's chair hung a great spear: its bronze point shone in the firelight, and the feathers bound about it looked fresh, but there were dark stains on the wood.

Review: This story takes the Chronicles of Narnia and ratcheted up the dark undertones to the nth degree. Aslan doesn't return to destroy the white witch and his death doesn't immediately right the imbalance in the Deep Magic, so a sacrifice must be made.

A lot of what makes this fic so compelling is the inevitability of what is coming. You don't necessarily know exactly what it is, but you know that it's bad.

I suggest reading through this story twice. The first time to experience the story and the second time to pick up all of the hints Cofax wove into it.

Fair warning though, this is not a nice fic and if character death upsets you I don't recommend trying to read it.

Summary: Soldiering is soldiering, even when you're using a gun rather than a sword. And they're underestimating you because of your age.

Review: This series is in the murkey area between AU and Post-Canon. According to book canon it's an AU. According to Movie Cannon, it isn't conflicting with anything.

One of the best thing about the murky canon attachments is that this story doesn't revolve around the usual family angst, of post-Narnia Pevensie stories. The four children are still living as a cohesive family unit, despite the war and the loss of Narnia.

I love how this story/series is told from the perspective of people outside of the kids. It's cool to see how their lives appear to people who don't know anything about Narnia, Aslan, or where the kids (now youn men and women) learned to be fighters and leaders. The comparason between Edmund and Peter is particularly interesting. Burntcopper does a great job of showing the signs of both their king-ships without loosing the differences in their personalities and beliefs.

The ending to the series is a bit abrupt, and I wish there had been more closure, but the series is strong and well written even without more world-building. It's a great read for anyone who likes outsider POVs and war stories.

Review: ' The thing about the end of the world is that it gets increasingly difficult to find coffee.' Is the first line of this short fic and a great summary of the post-apocalyptic gem.

I love zombie stories, of every shape and size, but I have a particular penchant for the stories that show the slow creeping horror of the survivors who get used to a world made up of prey and predator, with only hints of civilization in sight.

The fact that the main characters of this story are Edmund and Susan, a King and Queen of Narnia, only adds to the quiet desperation this fic exudes. They know how to live in an uncivilized and unfair world, they've experienced it all before, and they believe they deserve it because they betrayed Aslan and Narnia.

The author wrote this fic as incest, but the snippet of this world that is shown, is about family, not romance, so it's easy to ignore any incestuous overtones. The first time I read through the story I didn't even realize it was supposed to be incest. Still if you're particularly sensitive to ambiguous sibling relationships this story probably isn't for you.
