Review: Written by one of my top favourite authors of all time. This fic is a mix between a sequel of Dr. Horrible and an alternative Supernatural future where the gates of hell stay open. It’s a world where there is a never ending fight happening against the forces of evil, Billy joins up with the boys to help them with their war.

What I love so much about this fic is the feeling it gives you of light in the darkness. While the world is a miserable place, these people find happiness in each other and Billy especially as he gives them his weird science and wonderful weapons straight out of sci-fi. Billy finally has a place where he is appreciated.

There is nothing sadder than the ending of Dr. Horrible. Where he is all alone and he chooses to become evil because the people who claim to be good do the most harm. In this fic he finally finds himself on the right side and finds himself a happy ending. If you want a well written resolution then you should definitely read this fic.

The incest only happens in the last chapter so you may just read the first two chapters and should be alright.

It hits you right in your chest, so subtly dragging you back to times in your life when you’ve isolated yourself because it’s easier to run away then let other people see your pain.

It honestly makes you pine for a car of your own and to drive forever. It’s a fic about finding yourself and how it’s a journey all of us have to face. It’s a beautiful fic with a happy ending.

Review: I read this pairing before I watched the show. I thought the whole fandom had softened the character’s. I thought they had to have done. No TV show could have character’s this sweet and I had heard the show was violent so it just didn’t mesh as an idea in my head.

The character’s are softened somewhat but not by much and no story got across how their bright smiles make you fall in love. This fic for me is kind of a fantasy played out. Matt is the ultimate hurt/comfort for anyone who loves that kind of thing, for this moment especially.

Foggy knows how to hug tricks, and it isn't how he hugs Matt. He hugs Matt like he hugs his nieces and nephews when they're crying, just gets in his space and wraps him up. Matt stiffens for a second—stupid, Foggy should probably have warned him, it's not like he can see Foggy coming—and then relaxes, clutching on to the front of Foggy's shirt.

Matt Murdock needs a hug and this fic is filled with them.

Review: First let’s start with a summary because this does not encompass the glory this fic deserves.

Lex Luthor, caught in an explosion, wakes up and can’t remember anything about his life. There are many people telling him who he is supposed to be but he doesn’t want any of it. The only thing he has to hold onto are stories about his best friend. Martha Kent tells him about how he’s friends with her son and how when her son knows he’s hurt he’ll come back from the city for him. Lex kind of builds up this phantom Clark Kent in his head as perfect. The only good thing in his life to be proud of when all his past sins are being presented at his feet.

After being abducted and almost killed a second time he let’s people think he’s dead and starts his new life. Stuck in a wheelchair he lives at a monastery with the priest that saved him the second time. It’s just the two of them until a green eyed man drops into the mix with the name Jerome Kent and it turns out Lex isn’t the only one trying to run from the past.

This leads to a beautiful moment where Clark becomes jealous of himself. Lex admits he’s still waiting for the boy Martha told him about to find him because she swore he would. Clark justs wants Lex to see him as he is.

There is a whole lot of story here. Lex finds a purpose for himself and I love how it makes me feel justified in believing in Lex. I’ve always felt without the bad influences in his life he would have gone down a completely different road. In this fic he shows Clark how you can be a bit smarter about saving the world then just stopping the bad guys.

Review: This fic is certainly not lacking in details. Want to know the huge amount of unheard story the show didn’t even try to capitalize on? This fic tells about how Wilson and House met way before the show says they did and how they stayed friends and more while everything else moves on around them.
This fic is rough and mean which is what makes the characters so believable. House is his usual self but this fic makes a point out of showing that Wilson is just as bad if not worse in a lot of ways while still maintaining his goody two shoe side which had to be tricky to do.
I doubt you will find a fic with as much cheating in it as this one but at the same time you won’t find a fic with this kind of faithfulness either. Despite the fact neither have moments of monogamy that last more than a few weeks they are constantly open with each other even when it hurts both of them and there are so many moments where their love for each other shines through.
This fic also has many side stories any my favorite is about Wilson’s two twin nieces and how they perceive House and Wilson’s relationship. They first see them together when they are very young and throughout all Wilson’s wives have wanted the two to be out about their relationship. They love Wilson but their reactions to House are so funny and adorable because they easily see through his scathing words to what he really means and like him for it.

Twenty Years of Stealing my Food

Review: A new spin on an old romance, this clever little fic adds a surprisingly sweet layer in the middle. Dean is a reaper who keeps letting Sam slip by him, even encouraging him back to life. It’s adorable how these too banter over Sam’s often nearly dead body.

But the true treasure of the story is Sam’s relationship with the secondary characters. It’s surprising to think I never imagined how characters like Bobby and Ellen felt about the boys. I knew they saw themselves as slightly responsible for them but I never empathized with them as much as I did in this fic when you see how sad they were that Sam was always so alone.

Courting Death

Review:
This stands out in my memory as unique. It's a mixture of quantum leap/terminator that I haven't seen before. What I remember most is the trailer someone made for it. I will add it at the end of this rec and you will see what I mean. It's emotional and scary and inspires a lot of awe for something that is under two minutes. It's extremely clever with how it mixes together different movies to get it's message across.
The fic itself is less scary and more sweet. While Jared experiences pain and struggles with not saving Jensen and creating a paradox, Jensen himself eases a lot of it for Jared without knowing what's going on and ultimately ends up being smarter than Jared gives him credit for. Protecting the ones we love is an extreme weakness of mine and this fic certainly hit home.

A sweet and simple story for a stressful week. I have been trying to find a fic that captures the intensity between Michael and Mahone but I've not found one yet.
This fic is well written and in character. Which I have found is rare with Michael since his character is so subtle many writers end up writing him as submissive without meaning to.
I love that in this fic Mahone gets some swans of his own. I always felt he would have appreciated them more than Sara who always seemed so annoyed with them.

Review: It's probably best if you are all caught up on Eureka before you read this fic. It's set's off after the group has changed the past and have returned to the new timeline. Except one difference to the series is that Nathan is alive when they come back. The reason why you should read this fic out of all the variations of it that exist is that this one leans more towards sweet and happy.

There is an especially cute moment where Jack and Jo are drunk and are absolutely adorable.

“I was jealous,” Jack said.

Jo scrunched her face up in confusion for a moment before realising that he was responding to her earlier question. “Ohhh! Wait, about Allison with Stark? I thought you’d decided that wasn’t a thing.”

Jack nodded violently. “We did...I had! I think it’s just because it’s Stark, you know? And all his...” he waved his hand in the air “...Starkishness!”

“He is very Starkish,” Jo agreed, “I think it’s the beard.”

Review:
What's lovely about this fic is how carefully it is built up. It's slow and neat and you get the sense of friendship and trust before you get to any romance at all. And even though it is from Will's point of view you can read between the lines how Ethan is falling for Will way before you ever guess it's returned.

Because the one point that bugged me in the film was how Sebastian and Olivia got placed together at the end as if they both hadn't learned anything about shallowness at all.

This fic will surprise you as its about a pairing that very few would even think of yet gives you all the butterflies.

Review:
This is quite a brutal story for someone like me who always likes to see the best in people. Everyone in this fic is a piece of work. Even Jensen who is deaf. In a lot of stories people with disabilities are seen of as sweet victims. Yet here Jensen doesn't even consider pulling any punches and is downright cruel at times. It makes you hurt to see how they treat each other but it certainly makes you sit up and respect at the same time.

Yet this also adds to the deliciousness of some moments that are just heartbreakingly funny. My favourite being when Jared falls through Jensen's window drunk. I am also a sucker for stories that treasure someone who clearly doesn't think they deserve it.

Review:
This is one of the first fics I have ever read and still in my memories as one of the best. Sam and Dean completely in their flavour. You find Sam determined to do everything the hard way and bitching at Dean to do the same and Dean with his fond indulgence for life and simple things making him a push over, making it hard for him to decipher the angst Sam is bringing his way.

What makes this unusual as far as a student teacher fic goes is that it is done in defense of the teacher. It's clear throughout all this fic that Sam knows himself. Yet when they get caught, Sam is already 18 and still his parents prosecute despite his wishes.

I love the fact its pointed out that Sam is smarter, stronger and bigger than Dean. That he is more emotionally intelligent and even that while he read medical textbooks Dean was reading Harry Potter despite being the older teacher. You are left in no doubt that Dean had no power over Sam's decisions yet what it comes down to is when they first started having sex, less than a month before he turns 18 and that's all it takes to risk Dean being put away forever.

This fic has many sweet moments. Most is Sam and Dean getting to know each other.

Review:
I admit I didn't get all the way through this. It's just so monumentally long. For comparison the Harry Potter books themselves are only 1,084,170 and I'd have a hard time reading them one after the other as well. Yet it will truly be a huge regret on my bucket list though if I do not finish this and I do not know if I would ever forgive myself. I think I got to book 5 and it is shocking.

The summary explains nothing of the book so I'll go into a little more detail. If you hate spoilers do not read on. The book starts with a huge change to the plot. In this version Harry had a twin brother named Connor and when Voldemort came to kill them when they were a year old they both received a unique scar when the killing curse backfired. The boys weren't with their parents when Voldemort came into Godric's Hollow meaning both Lily and James were alive to raise them.

This means the prophecy was also different. In this one it mentions the the younger would care for the whole world and the older would only care for the younger. Dumbledore decided that to keep the prophecy in their favour the two boys must be the younger and older. If they were not it meant that there was another boy out their the dark lord could kill to ruin the prophecy forever and they couldn't let that be so they started planning.

They pretty much condition Harry as the older twin by minutes to only care for Connor. They pretty much systematically abuse him until he cares about Connor's happiness more than his own life. They train him to be his brothers protector, train him to not care for any pleasure and tolerate any pain. If you cannot stand Lily, James and Dumbledore treating a child as less than human then don't read this.

It gets so bad at points but at the same time it's worth it for how you grow to love this version of Harry. I love him dearly to the point his losses make me cry, his hurts make me feel pain and his victories make my heart soar and I would never ask more from a book than that. This is probably a fic I would recommend to J.K Rowling herself as this fic is a castle build only on her bare template and to call it just another AU is to degrade all the clever ideas and plot that makes so much sense to the the point of nothing.

Sherlock knows he's only on the show because his brother is evil and the show wanted to drum up some interest by doing a scandal. He hardly expects to last more than one night. Yet rose ceremony after ceremony he receives a rose from John much to his surprise and John's.

Review:
This story will forever stick in my heart as my favourite Sherlock fanfic. I rarely read gen but the emotion in this story makes me wish that there was a completely separate label for fics that have the best kinds of family love even when there is no romance.

And John is so uniquely lovable you can't even blame Sherlock for loving the grumpy eight year old wrapped in a woolly jumpers.

I've read a lot of fics where John gets to go back in time and redo all the cases and impress Sherlock with his foresight. But this fic tops them all by making you forget it's copying the episodes.

It is it's own true story with original characters that will become special to you and a storyline that makes you fall for John and Sherlock like you never even knew them. You ache for Sherlock who is presented with a tantalising puzzle in the young John that can never be solved. And John, who keeps major pieces of the puzzle to himself so that he can keep Sherlock as his and keep him safe at the same time.

I thought as I was reading this that it would be one of those fics that would go on forever until the writer lost their way. I thought there could never be an ending that would satisfy the height on which it had been brought to. I was wrong on all accounts. The ending made so much sense and I would never have thought of it in a million years. While with a fic this good I would have wanted it to last forever, no one can deny it made sense to end it where it was.
