Summary:
DEATH (of Discworld) and Death (of Sandman) meet "during an inter-dimensional crisis, as one does," and fall in love.
Review:
This story is beautiful. Both Death characters are lonely in their respective universes, and who better to understand than their equivalent in another universe.
I really enjoyed all the little details from both series, with tiny cameos from other characters. But at it's core is the relationship between the two deaths. From start to finish, it's a lovely, lyrical and sweet romance about two lonely anthropomorphic personifications.

Length: Long [~17,000 words]

Summary: It was supposed to be a simple chess game. But wizards are such sore losers. Vetinari is sent to an alternate universe (perhaps) by an irate Ridcully after he wins once too often at the traditional Ponce Featherhew chess game; while he's there he slowly starts to remember living there all along, and the wizards must race to get the Patrician back before he stops remembering Anhk-Morpork.
Review: Hurray for literary fandoms week! Although this one's 7 years old, this fic is still a good Discworld story, slight characterization evolution issues notwithstanding. I like the OFC that Vetinari meets in the alterworld - she's not so wonderful that she's a Mary Sue, but she is intelligent and stubborn, and a good match for a Vetinari who thinks he is a knight but who is otherwise as on the ball as usual. I only wish that they had more time together.
The fic comes complete with footnotes and dry humor, of course. Mercator gets the Pratchett style right, more or less, and that really makes the fic shine. I'd recommend it to anyone familiar with Discworld who has a little time, and who likes to read about the wizards bickering and Vetinari being himself even when amnesiac.

Review:
Havelock Vetinari visits Uberwald as a young man, on the traditional Grand Sneer, with mostly-stupid companions. They stop at a vampire's castle, and he makes a valuable acquaintance in the owner. The two teach each other how to rule the world. In the sequel, Lady Margolotta visits the now-Patrician of Anhk-Morpork.
The characters are spot-on, and the stories account for a throwaway line in The Fifth Elephant by building up a plausible relationship between two very ambitious people. Bonus points for the passages from a book, written in the future, about the life of the Patrician. Note: when I went to the author's fic journal today, it appeared that more had been written in this universe that was not posted on Fanfiction.net. I haven't read any of the others, so while I presume they are good, I don't know the plots - and it looks like most of them are not Vetinari-centric.
