Summary:Google politely tells her there are no poisonous spiders in Manhattan. Judging by her symptoms -- fever, superstrength, newfound desire to shove herself into small dark spaces, and sudden reputation as a masked vigilante -- Gwen would beg to differ. [Spider!Gwen AU.]

Review: This is pretty much the only thing I read for a couple days running, which for me is pretty impressive.

I can not say how in love I am with Gwen as spiderman. Both because she is just plain awesome, and because she actually thinks things through before getting involved with stupid SH**.

No insult meant to Peter Parker, but he is notorious for the leap first, screw everything up, and very rarely remember to ask questions brand of superheroing. Gwen is still an impulsive teenager but she doesn't take things at face value for long, and is willing to admit when she makes mistakes. Which makes all the difference when it comes to the events of the first Amazing Spiderman movie.

There are dozens of side characters, some you only meet for a chapter and yet all of them will stick with you for weeks after you read the fic

Johnny Storm was a jackass and could go join Fate in the club.

If there’s one thing that the Marvel Universe never really lets you forget it’s that most of their superheroes are basically falling all over each other – geographically speaking, anyway – and that on any given day, they could bump into each other. This is exactly what happens here, over and over again, unfortunately for Peter. And Johnny. And Peter’s adorably awkward might-as-well-be-a-twelve-year-old-girl crush on Johnny.

Keeping that in mind, if you aren’t smiling by now then this story probably isn’t for you. If you are, however, then rest assured that the fic only gets better and fluffier as it goes along, with both Peter and Johnny coming out all smiles in the end. Definitely a fun and silly read to enjoy.

Edna Mode is saved from a mugger by Spider-man, leading to changes in the superhero's attire and a new direction in the fashion designer's career.

While this story is a bit on the short side, it really does justice to its premise. jjonahjameson captures both E and Peter perfectly, creating an original and highly amusing crossover.

To get credits towards his teaching license, Scott Summers goes to work in a math camp for the summer. On the bus he meets a fellow camp counselor: Reed Richards.

Aldalindil has an incredible gift for blending Marvel characters in a natural way. The conversation between Reed and Scott is incredibly in character for both and wonderfully entertaining. The cameo appearance of young Peter Parker and Harry Osborne ends up being the cherry on top of this short yet delightful fic.

Author's Summary: After Karen Page's death and Peter's divorce from Mary Jane, Matt and Peter have a one-night stand that leads to something much deeper.

Review:
As much the summary might imply, 'Red' isn't the typical happily-ever-after story. It begins with pain and, some might say, ends in pain, though that is being slowly and painstakingly taken care of in the sequel. Which is to say, it's similar to all those comic cliffhangers that make you wait until the next issue to find out what happens next.

Beginning just after the death of Karen Page, with Matt grappling with his grief and Peter nosing in whether Matt wants him to or not, the story catapults these two into a tumultuous relationship, beginning with friendship and ending it so much more. It's an intense read, heavy on the issues, and doesn't pull the punches. Their relationship and interaction through the story is ever-evolving and complicated, much like the characters themselves, with Matt being, as always, a bundle of suppressed issues and complexities while Peter is genuine and struggling to achieve balance.

The plot itself, which manages to sneak up on you when you're not looking, thickens quickly and explodes. The author doesn't give them a free pass to happiness just because they're superheroes. In fact, it's rather the opposite, which keeps the realm of realism closely at hand. Even though there are plenty of happy and rewarding moments between the two, things aren't calm or peaceful. Villians and unexpected complications rise out of the wood work in perfectly synced mayhem, forcing them to struggle, fight, and even pay for every relationship they have. I can't recommend this story enough, even if you're not one for stories involving (temporary) character death. It's worth the emotions, honestly.
