Summary:

(The summary is in Japanese. Assuming most of epic-recs' patrons don't read/speak Japanese, I won't paste it here.)

Review:

Basically, this comic is an AU version of a canonical fight in Stardust Crusaders, where Jotaro and Kakyoin are transformed into children by Alessi's Stand and left in Josef's care while Polnareff and Abdul battle Alessi. Their characterizations as children are extrapolated from the brief hints that Holly Kujo and Kakyoin himself provide in the canon.

I'm no less a sucker for authors filling in the blanks when it comes to backstory than I've always been, so reccing this, (once I'd discovered the translation!) was a no-brainer. It's difficult to take Holly Kujo's description of a young Jotaro at her word, considering the kind of personality he has as a teen, but the artist writes it straight, depicting Jotaro as an outgoing, empathetic child. In sharp contrast is Kakyoin, whose early emergence of his Stand, and the complications that Kakyoin canonically, if vaguely, implies to have followed, have made him a cynical and angry young boy determined to be alone by choice rather than be hated and left behind.

Interestingly, it's this portrayal of Kakyoin that I can see being enslaved, possibly even willingly, by Dio, who may have been the first person to not only acknowledge, but understand and appreciate Kakyoin's Stand.

Though how Jotaro went from being a sweet child to a stone-faced delinquent is still anyone's guess.

Length: 229,000

Summary: Dr. John Watson is turned into an eight year old child, dealing with Sherlock who doesn't know him in a world where he was never born. He's a little stressed out, but he's got his priorities straight.

Review:
This story will forever stick in my heart as my favourite Sherlock fanfic. I rarely read gen but the emotion in this story makes me wish that there was a completely separate label for fics that have the best kinds of family love even when there is no romance.

And John is so uniquely lovable you can't even blame Sherlock for loving the grumpy eight year old wrapped in a woolly jumpers.

I've read a lot of fics where John gets to go back in time and redo all the cases and impress Sherlock with his foresight. But this fic tops them all by making you forget it's copying the episodes.

It is it's own true story with original characters that will become special to you and a storyline that makes you fall for John and Sherlock like you never even knew them. You ache for Sherlock who is presented with a tantalising puzzle in the young John that can never be solved. And John, who keeps major pieces of the puzzle to himself so that he can keep Sherlock as his and keep him safe at the same time.

I thought as I was reading this that it would be one of those fics that would go on forever until the writer lost their way. I thought there could never be an ending that would satisfy the height on which it had been brought to. I was wrong on all accounts. The ending made so much sense and I would never have thought of it in a million years. While with a fic this good I would have wanted it to last forever, no one can deny it made sense to end it where it was.

Review: Kiddy!Loki is just too adorable in this fic. He's a teeny tiny ball of trouble and the Avengers are awesome parents. Even if Tony is a woman, Steve doesn't have powers, and Natasha and Bruce did switch bodies. (Thor unfortunately spends most of the fic uncouncious.)

I just love how galaxysoup writes Loki's and the teams interaction. It's so nice to find a fic that doesn't concentrate on "Saving" Loki. It's nice to see a story where cultural differences and second chances are just a part of life, and not the be all - end all of Loki's life.

Author Summary: Dean gets his ass cursed at a truck stop, and it all kind of snowballs from there: the virgins, the breading, the space ninjas. Written for the [livejournal.com profile] spn_halloween prompt: Grown-up Sam & Dean are mentally age-regressed and go trick or treating...

Review: First Dean and then Sam are hiliariously cursed to mentally regress to childhood for a few days. In the meantime, they still have a job to do saving some girls. As Dean says, "We're still the only ones who can stop it. Our bodies are still the same. It's just inside that's different, Sammy, so you know what? We fake it." The language changes are some of my favorite parts of the story, whe how Sam or Dean says something clearly indicates their youthful mentality. This is utterly delightful.

This is, by far, one of the cutest de!aged Spock fics I've read in a long time. It's also one of the shortest, unfortunately for us. Length aside, however, it's fluffy, sweet, and well worth the time spent just for the smile it'll bring you.

Website: Voracity's Fanfiction

Summary: What if Willow did an oopsy with her magic and turned Xander into a toddler; then when Dawn was watching him wished Xander could have a better childhood this time around with parent(s) who loved him . . .

Review: This is one of my absolute favorite kiddie fics. Mostly because of how Voracity handles the family aspect. Don't let the first section with the Scoobie gang fool you, despite the cracky premise and the character's over the top behavior, the story actually turned out to be one of the sweetest surprise parent stories I've ever read. I particularly like the characterization of the NCIS team, though they sometimes come of as a little over the top. Gibbs is a gruff man trying to do his best as a single father. Tony is a wonderful care-giver and mother figures. Abby is a great and over-the-top aunt whose not afraid to induce lactation for the betterment of her adopted nephew. MgGee and Ziva are the uncomfortable Aunt and Uncle, happy for Gibbs but even happier not to be in his place.

What really sets this story apart for me is how Voracity kept the story from becoming your traditional Harlequin romance, where the baby makes the main characters realize they are madly in love. I've never really been able to understand how a screaming, puking, pooping child worked as a romantic plot device. Gibbs and Tony are both fully devoted to Xander but they don't mistake that devotion to be a sign that they have to start a relationship with each other 'for Xander's good'. They are happy being his father and 'mother' without being in love, which is something I can totally respect and love. I'm a big fan of non-traditional family dynamics.

The majority of the story takes place from when Xander is around six months to when he is twoish, which means that not much is shown about his own personality. This changes in the last part of the story which jumps to when Xander is older and begins to remember his past life. This final segment is the weakest part of the entire story, and the transition is a bit jarring. Voracity's writing style is a bit repetitive which slows down the story slightly Despite its less than stellar ending and unusual pacing, I can't help but love this fic and hope that you all will consider giving it a try.
