Rec to become a Weekly Reccer

  • Aug. 26th, 2015 at 8:49 PM
We're looking to fill a reccer slot. Our reccers rec once a week, stepping down only when they need/want to move on. Add a review of a favorite fanwork here if you're interested in reccing for the comm. Good luck, and thanks!
Things to keep in mind:
- For this post, recced fanworks can be any length, any fandom, and any pairing (or no pairing).
- You can rec fic, podfic, fanart, or a fanvid.
- Add all information that's included in a typical ER post. We've included our template below to make that easy.
- The review section should be 150 words or more and include specific reasons why you're reccing this particular work.

Epic Recs will be on a break for the month of December.

Each December posting is optional for our reccers, who spend the rest of the year posting every week. Many thanks to our past reccers listed in the tags, and to our current reccers -- [livejournal.com profile] popkin16, [livejournal.com profile] roseveare, [livejournal.com profile] gezana, [livejournal.com profile] piscaria, [livejournal.com profile] flyby311, [livejournal.com profile] raktajinos, [livejournal.com profile] sheepnamedpig, and co-mod and reccer [livejournal.com profile] chibifukurou for writing excellent, thoughtful and detailed reviews week in and week out. December Break & Recruiting a New Reccer

  • Dec. 2nd, 2013 at 8:00 AM

December in the southern hemisphere. :)

Epic Recs will be on a break in December.
Each December posting is optional for our reccers, who spend the rest of the year posting every week. Many thanks to our past reccers listed in the tags and to fellow current reccers -- [livejournal.com profile] chibifukurou, [livejournal.com profile] ekishou, [livejournal.com profile] sheepnamedpig, [livejournal.com profile] ci5rod, [livejournal.com profile] flyby311, and [livejournal.com profile] kirwanraemus -- for writing up so many thoughtful reviews. Thanks to our readers who supply us with great recs in our Readers' Recs posts.

We'll resume daily reccing in January.

twitter This month we'll highlight some past recs and themes @EpicRecs, so if you're over there, you'll see recs throughout December.

Become a Weekly Reccer
On January 9, we'll be recruiting a new reccer. Add a review of any fic to that January post to be considered. Our reccers rec on a long term basis, only stepping down when they need/want to move on.

Have a great month. See you in January!

We're now updating @EpicRecs with the daily recs. It's an easy way to ask questions about the comm or to retweet a rec of a fic you love.

Happy Halloween!

HOW COULD WE HAVE MISSED THAT?

  • Aug. 3rd, 2012 at 6:21 PM
I’m excited to announce that we’re doing something a little different here at [livejournal.com profile] epic_recs this month! Instead of our normally scheduled RR post at the end of the month, we’re once again letting YOU become the reccer! That’s right -- you’ll once again have the chance to show off your reccing skills and share some of your favorite fics!

For those who weren’t here for the last Recapalooza, I’m sure you’re wondering ‘what does all this mean?’

It’s simple: Have a favorite story in a fandom that we just never seem to rec in? Do you really want to share it with someone? This is your chance!

From now until the end of the month, recs posted here (and that follow our posting guidelines below) will be posted to the community starting at the beginning of next month. All comments will be screened so please feel free to rec as many or as few as you’d like!

But don't hit the comment button just yet! Epic Recs has some strict posting guidelines that must be followed (we consider ER's consistent quality to be one of the main selling points of the comm) -- any comments that ignore any of the following rules will be disqualified.

Click for more info! )

Recs MUST be submitted before the end of the month if you want to them to be posted!

Having said all that, have at it and have fun!

Layout Change

  • Feb. 14th, 2011 at 12:58 AM
As most of you have probably noticed by now, we've finally gotten around to taking advantage of our paid account status and have changed our layout with the help of one our reccers, [livejournal.com profile] chibifukurou. Many, many thanks for that and our shiny layout!

As always feel free to leave us feedback on ways we can improve it and hopefully we'll have any possible glitches fixed over the next few days. On a side note, we're still on the look out for a new reccer so if you're interested please head on over to one of our previous RR and participate. It's one of the quickest ways to get noticed around here. :)

Delicious

  • Dec. 18th, 2010 at 8:33 AM
As most of you have already heard by now, on Thursday the information that Yahoo was planning to shut down delicious leaked on the internet. Considering the bookmarking site's  role as a way for people to keep track of their favorite fics and of its use by many communities as a sort or archive/way for people to find fics more easily through tag filtration (ER being included in this second case), this piece of news did not go well with fandom.

Yahoo has clarified that they are in fact trying to sell delicious, not shutting it down.
The 24 hour delay in providing answers may mean that this was not their original plan, but it seems they are bowing (at least a little) to the public outrage. We expect more information about the fate of the site in the coming days.

In any case, the mods just wanted to reassure you that we are aware of the situation and are following the news as they unfold. If the worst does happen we have a saved copy of ER's bookmarks and will look for the best possible place to host them. Suggestions for alternatives to delicious are very welcome.
