Summary:
Phil has control issues, Clint has power issues, and the Avengers are a bundle of issues. It’s no wonder Maria wants nothing to do with them. Phil doesn’t seem to have a choice.
Review:
One of my obstacles when it comes to Clint/Coulson fic is the power difference between the two characters and the first reason I adored this fic is because it didn’t shy away from that differential and addressed it. The second reason I adored this fic was the friendships among the support personnel. Maria, Darcy, and Phil going out and drinking together is my new headcanon. The third reason I adored this fic was that it addressed how tough it is for Coulson to actually corral and handle the Avengers team. The author does a great job showing a more human side of Coulson. He gets angry and pissed off at the team and has to deal with those feelings, which he does, in a very realistic manner.
I like the writing style, and the way not everything is laid out for you, there are histories and such for the reader to extrapolate. Overall an enjoyable and satisfying read.
