Why, he gets a visit from his team, of course. This fic is just an emotional rollar coaster, as Rodney thinks about how empty his future is now that he's solved The Problem, as he calls it. Then there's the reunion with each of his team members and the revelations that come with it. It's sad and beautiful and funny, and well written like all of sgamadison's fic is. It's a quick read too, since it's not super long. Treat yourself to this fic - you won't regret it!

Summary: The unique thing about Event Horizon, and something Rodney was quite proud of, was that the store itself was a physical representation of the mind of its owner. The filing system that had so amused Sheppard served a greater purpose. The problem was that Rodney hadn't yet figured out just what that purpose was. He only knew that he liked things a certain way. If one took a moment to piece the filing system together, they would realize that it told the story of one man, perched behind his counter, trying to fend off the world.

Review: I discovered this fic long after the fandom had gotten quiet. There had been no announcement posts on livejournal so I basically stumbled on this fic, and was astonished it wasn't being rec'd anywhere. I love every moment of this fic. John and Rodney's first meeting is so entertaining, as is every subsequent meeting between the two. I really like the original characters the author uses. They feel like real, fleshed out people and are so interesting on their own. I really love the detail and thought the author put into Rodney's little bookshop, too - especially the organization. John and Rodney's relationship progresses nicely.

This is a well written, entertaining fic that never fails to make me happy. It's a quick read, too - even if 25000 seems like quite a bit (I know some people prefer shorter fics) it'll go by fast.

Men in the military aren't just encouraged to sleep with each other, but they're almost expected to. Although I don't know the specifics, it appears that the leaders in the military are expected to sleep with as many of their men as they can as a method of bonding with their troops to create feelings of safety and togetherness. Those individuals that don't comply aren't considered to be a "team player" and only recently have the men even been allowed to marry while in the military-- the strict policy was once to never send fathers or husbands into battle.

In this fic, John is asexual-- though, he doesn't identify himself as such just as none of the men in the military (or anyone else in this universe, for that matter) identify as gay or straight (nor any other type of sexuality). Review: In this fantastic AU, John and the SGA team arrive at Atlantis without Rodney being a part of their expedition from Earth. After a small mishaps with a rotted railing, John soon discovers (or, more precisely, is discovered) Rodney when the merman saves him from drowning in the frigid sea. It doesn’t take long for the alien to incorporate himself into their way of life as he berates them for their lack of intelligence and spends his nights in John’s tub.

This is, without a doubt, one of my most favorite SGA fic and, coincidentally, my most favorite SGA Author. You’ll be hearing about SardonicSmiley quite a bit in my upcoming future SGA recs. This fic is gorgeous. I love the way Rodney is a “mermaid” and yet not in the traditional sense of the word. I love that he doesn’t automatically understand English like all of the other aliens seem to-- that he speaks in whistles and clicks and, occasionally, Ancient. I love the fact that despite his lack of language, he still manages to get his point across in a decidedly snarky way that is entirely Rodney. I’m beyond amused that the first few words he learns are “idiots” and “morons.”

SardonicSmiley always seems to weave so much life and magic into the SGA fics she writes. Despite how short some of them are, they’re a delight to read and everything you could hope for in a fic.
