Sixteen Hours, by spastic_visions (PG-13)

  • Oct. 24th, 2011 at 9:03 PM
I never drink... theme weeks. It's Supernatural/Horror Fic week!

Title: Sixteen Hours
Fandom: Scrubs
Pairing: J.D./Cox
Categories: Horror, Supernatural, Dark
Length: Short (~1200 words)
Warnings: unhappy, ambiguous ending. Shortness.

Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] spastic_visions
Website: [livejournal.com profile] trolllogicfics

Summary: “We’re going to have to quarantine you, Janice. Sixteen hours to be on the safe side. When that’s over, we forget this ever happened and get on with our lives."

Review:
Dude, this fic is short, but really packs a punch. I absolutely love the world-building and character insight that [livejournal.com profile] spastic_visions manages to squeeze into every phrase. As each 'hour' passes, you gain a little more knowledge of how much the world's gone to hell, especially in Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital. While I'm not a fan of JD/Cox as a romantic pairing, I do love how Dr. Cox takes care of JD in his own, gruff way. [livejournal.com profile] spastic_visions really captures that relationship dynamic, as Dr. Cox tries to squash JD's affections and JD goes on adoring him just the same.
As someone who isn't particularly fond of small spaces, the slow-burning terror of a zombie quarantine is one that really strikes home for me. I felt for JD as he tries to figure out what's going on, as no one tells him if he's getting better, and he comes to realize that there is no hope.
A sad, perfect little tale of terror to get you in the mood for Halloween :)

Sixteen Hours

Sensing Evil by Lady Ra (NC-17)

  • Oct. 24th, 2011 at 10:38 PM
2nd try for Horror/Supernatural week...

Title : Sensing Evil
Fandom : NCIS
Pairings : Gibbs/DiNozzo
Categories : Supernatural, horror, Casefile
Length : Epic (~ 41000 words)
Warnings : Violence, crimes, threats of non-con

Author in LJ : [livejournal.com profile] ladyra
Author website : Vision of pretty boys

Summary:
While being stalked by something not entirely human, someone casts a spell on Tony that changes his life forever.

Review :
I love Lady Ra fanfics. She is one of those great authors you can enjoy even if you don't know the fandom they're writing in.
This story is quite dark. The case the Ncis team is working is terrifying. And honestly the descriptions of the crime scene are gruesome and horrifying but they work and are necessary for the atmosphere of the story.
The characterization of Tony and Gibbs are spot on. The team is great and Morrow is really a great Director. And the characters created by Lady Ra are awesome (both the Bench Lady and the Evil one).
If you want more, there also is a nice epilogue called "Sensing Tony".
