Summary: “We’re going to have to quarantine you, Janice. Sixteen hours to be on the safe side. When that’s over, we forget this ever happened and get on with our lives."
Review:
Dude, this fic is short, but really packs a punch. I absolutely love the world-building and character insight that
spastic_visions manages to squeeze into every phrase. As each 'hour' passes, you gain a little more knowledge of how much the world's gone to hell, especially in Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital. While I'm not a fan of JD/Cox as a romantic pairing, I do love how Dr. Cox takes care of JD in his own, gruff way.
spastic_visions really captures that relationship dynamic, as Dr. Cox tries to squash JD's affections and JD goes on adoring him just the same.
As someone who isn't particularly fond of small spaces, the slow-burning terror of a zombie quarantine is one that really strikes home for me. I felt for JD as he tries to figure out what's going on, as no one tells him if he's getting better, and he comes to realize that there is no hope.
A sad, perfect little tale of terror to get you in the mood for Halloween :)
