Title: Bringing The Walls Down
Fandom: Supernatural / Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Pairing: Dean/Billy/Sam, Sam/Billy, Dean/Billy, Dean/Sam
Categories: action/adventure, AU, crossover, drama, post-apocalyptic, threesome
Length: Long (20,895 words)
Warnings: Incest, implied secondary character death

Summary:
They had names now, the men in the 1967 Chevy Impala were Sam and Dean Winchester, and they were trying to save the world.
Review:
The first third of the story is told entirely for the point of view of Billy (aka Dr. Horrible) as he watches supernatural threats explode across the country. He tracks the attacks--ghosts, monsters, demons--and observes the attacks always end after a black Impala rolls through town.
Not wanting to be a villain anymore, and realizing that the Winchesters are being herded into a trap, Billy goes out and joins them. His entrance is pretty epic. I really loved Dean's maniacal love of the weapons Billy creates for them. There's also exploration of Billy's verging-on multiple-personality issues.
While I love this story for the action, the characterizations and overall great writing, I'm not particularly fond of incest stories; if that's a deal-breaker for you, you can read the first two chapters (which are just gen), and skip the third.

Due to erratic internet access (and maybe just a touch of burnout) I have to announce that this is going to be my last day as a full-time reccer for Epic Recs. It's been over three years since I first started this comm as a way to share my favorite stories and between my fabulous co-reccers, the always entertaining recs from our readers, and the challenge of the theme weeks, this comm has grown far beyond my greatest expectations. You've all been wonderful, as readers, as lurkers, and as reccers and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heard for a brilliant run.
That said, this departure doesn't mean you'll never hear from me again -- though I won't be posting on a weekly basis, I will be popping in as internet access permits to post mini-marathons of all of the recs I've written while offline. And, as a bonus, ya'll are about to be inundated with all of my remaining stockpiled recs. Enjoy!

When Clark gets out of a date by claiming to be gay (oh, Clark), he asks Lex to go on a fake date with him. Which spectacularly blows up in their faces, natch.
This is one great big playing gay fluffball. Clark is endearingly dorky, Lex is devious but also kind of sweet, and all of the early season Smallville regulars except Lana and Whitney get at least a cameo (Chloe is, of course, awesome). Very light and lots of fun.

Faking It
Due to erratic internet access (and maybe just a touch of burnout) I have to announce that this is going to be my last day as a full-time reccer for Epic Recs.

For reasons that don't need to be explored at this juncture, Fraser and Ray find themselves asking each other a lot of personal questions. Which might very well lead to other personal things.
This is such a lovely friendship-leads-to-romance fic. The questions raised are interesting (as are the answers) and I love the subtle way we get to see just how much Ray and Fraser trust each other. A sweet, enjoyable fic.

Shortly before Christmas, Blair gets hurt in an explosion. Schmoopiness with a capital SCHMOOP ensues.
I waffled on this one for a while, because Blair is so very, very woobie in this fic and I personally like my Blair with a bit more self-esteem and confidence. On the other hand, the holidays are the perfect time for angsty melodrama and this is very much a holiday fic.
For those in the mood for some holiday hurt/comfort, you'll find the writing is good, Jim's characterization is great, and Simon is perfect. Best of all are the stories of some of Jim and Blair's previous Christmases, which were both fascinating and heartwarming (I could have read a whole fic just of Christmas stories).
In the end, if you're a fan of comfort fic and Christmas stories in general, I think you'll quite enjoy this tale.

Bender manages to get himself detentions for the rest of the school year and Vernon seems just a little bit too viciously pleased about that. Fortunately, albeit oddly, various members of the Breakfast Club keep showing up to join him for detention.
This is the first Breakfast Club fic I've encountered where all of the characters were still in school (and, as a result, all of the characters play a role in the story). I love the way that they don't all become buddy-buddy, but there is still a connection there, I love the way Bender grows up (a very little bit), and I love the slow-building romance between Brian and Bender. A slightly dark (there's a lot of menace when Vernon is on the page) but very satisfying fic.

When Themyscira decides to rejoin the world of men, they decide that the best way to make it happen is with a diplomatic marriage.
First I should note that the plot of this story is underwritten to the point that it doesn't actually make much sense (I'm assuming that it's based on an actual DCU storyline and thus Betty skipped a lot of important details to avoid boring readers). If you can read a fic just for the characters, however, this is a very fun, enjoyable story. I love the fact that Diana is the one to reassure Bruce that sex, while quite acceptable, won't be required in the marriage, I love that Bruce is kind of a dick while still quite obviously falling in love, I love that Superman is an idiot, albeit an adorable one, and I really love all of the cameos from the other JLA members (especially J'onn, who doesn't say anything at all in this fic and yet is quite possibly the most awesome character in it). A good choice for people who love great characters.
