Review:
After the events of Serenity, Jayne is confronted by River. River has read in his mind a want to be dominated and she won’t let it rest until he’s taken in hand. Jayne does the only thing he can think of; he runs away.
Generally speaking, I prefer Firefly stories to be set in the pre-Serenity heyday with Wash and Book still alive and well. This story won me over, though. The plot is done in such a way that it brings out the angst without sacrificing the humor. Writers often have trouble keeping Jayne in character, especially if they want to make him sympathetic. This story provided just enough back-story to make you begin to understand his motivations.
BDSM is a difficult plot-device to use because it can often feel forced, but in this circumstance, the author used it as a natural conclusion to very possible plot. The idea of River as the aggressor is an interesting one. I love that the author doesn’t suddenly transform her into a completely stable individual, but rather shows how Jayne’s logic compliments River’s.

When demon Gabe meets newly fallen angel William in a bar, he has no idea that his whole world is about to change. Nor does he realize that William is not just fallen, he’s actually human.
This author has a tendency to leave me a little speechless, and this fic is no exception. The fact that SkoosiePants was able to make a 15,000 word fic feel like an epic is what I’ve come to expect from her. But the beautiful world she created of demons and humans simply blew me away. The story is from Gabe’s POV, and since he’s a demon it’s obviously a completely different experience. I love that she made him demonic while still leaving his love of the human world intact. This was a truly exceptional read.
