Title: Balanced on the Sword's Edge
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: Harry/Lucius
Categories: AU, angst, h/c
Length: long (>24k)
Warnings: Consensual sex, nonconsensual sex, and dubious consent (yes, all three). Rape, sexual slavery, piercing, whipping, bondage, blood, forced exhibitionism, double penetration.
Author on LJ:
ravenna_c_tan
Website: n/a
Author's Summary: Harry Potter never escaped Malfoy Manor after being brought there by the snatchers (though Ron, Hermione, and the rest did, taking Draco with them). Without Harry there, the Battle of Hogwarts went quite differently, and now, after several months as Lucius Malfoy's personal pet, Harry's mind, body, and soul are quite different than they were as a schoolboy. He clings to his prophesied purpose, though, and knows he must stay alive to have a chance to fulfill it.
Review:
Enemies may seek comfort in each other in their darkest of hour, but when Lucius asks Harry to make the ultimate sacrifice to save the people and the world they love, can Harry trust Lucius enough to keep his end of the bargain?
Although the author gives a fairly happy ending (well, depends on how you look at it), we have to go through torture and gore to get there. However, while this story is indeed very dark, twisted, and not for the faint-hearted, it is also a story about love, trust, and well, we are pretty much willing to do anything if the price is high enough (a.k.a. self sacrifice).
One of the best stories from last year's Harry Potter Dark!fic Fest. Recommended to those who like taking strolls on the dark side.

Title: Good Man
Fandom: Star Trek: XI

Categories: AU (as in, Jim goes to an alternate reality), character study
Length: short
Warnings: dirtybadwrong, incest

Author's Summary: "Jim takes a minute to appreciate how fucking wrong this is. How black holes and time travel and universe-ending paradoxes always make things too damn complicated, because picking up his own father when he's an academy cadet and the same age as Jim should not even be an option. But it is. Had been. And Jim was never one to leave an inviting road unexplored."
Review:
Jim Kirk goes to an alternate reality to meet his father before the unfortunate incident. And one thing leads to another...
This fic has been dubbed by one of the reviewers as "dirtybadwrong", which is a really awesome, delicious-tag-worthy word, although I personally felt it was hardly dirty, bad, or wrong. Jim has never known his father (in the Reboot Universe) and George in this timeline hasn't even met Winona yet. That's not really incest, is it?
Tender and sweet, with excellent characterization of Jim for such a short piece. A part of me wishes that the author had expanded this universe (What happens if Jim decides to stay?) yet another part of me think this story is just perfect as is. Highly recommended.

Okay, so there's a funny story behind this -- about five hours ago, I realized that there was no rec posted on Friday and e-mailed
trace_by_echo to find out what was up about that. No response. Then, five *minutes* ago, I found this e-mail that she sent me four days ago asking me to post her recs for her on Friday since she wouldn't be at a computer. And I said yes! And then totally forgot! Since, like, *Wednesday*. Gad. Is it possible to be senile before thirty?
So, sorry these are late (and, uh,
trace_by_echo -- you can totally ignore that e-mail. *facepalm*)

After a Preventer mission, Heero and Duo ask Wu Fei to join them on a mini vacation by a lake, but he soon discovers that all is not what it seems between the two and that he has a totally unexpected role to play in saving their relationship.
This was a great take on what relationship dynamics can be like in a couple that’s becoming a threesome. Heero/Duo is the OTP, if the term can even be used in this fandom, for Gundam Wing, and the addition of Wu Fei brings this fic straight into Rare Pairing territory… but their interactions within the group have convinced me that this OTP is all the better for it. In some ways, they form a classic Id-Ego-Superego triad – but enough armchair psychology. This is just a lovely Wu Fei POV on what it’s like to help his friends with their relationship issues, all while being drawn into said relationship. The issues, such as they are, are serious and plausible, and one weeklong vacation isn’t enough to solve everything… but there’s plenty of reason to hope.
If you don’t like violence, or even just don’t want to leave the cabin-in-the-woods setting, the fic is mostly complete at the end of chapter nine. The remaining two chapters do have a mission, hurt/comfort, and sex for that matter, and it’s just as well-written as the rest, but it’s up to you! (I tend to think of those chapters as an unusually-long epilogue, myself.)
