Summary: "Intemperance," a story from the secret journals of Doctor John H. Watson, intimate friend and long-time companion of the infamous Sherlock Holmes: A most curious and instructive report of the great man's improbable fecundation, gestation, and parturition.
Review: This fic starts out after Holmes discovers that he's become pregnant and can't bring himself to do anything but carry it to term. So he turns to the only Doctor he can trust with such a delicate matter. What follows is a story in which Dr. Watson gets an education, Mary is BAMF, and Holmes can't help but be a detective even when bedridden.
This fic deals a lot with matters of sodomy and being transgender during Victorian times. I can't say how accurate it is since I don't know much about that time period, but the narrative is believable and very true to the characters despite the differences in their lives from canon.
I was particularly impressed by how kept the language more Victorian in nature without bogging the story down with style.

Review:
Sam Evans was a rational person. So why was he leaving Dalton, again?
This was one of those fics that really snuck up on me. I’d had it on my to-read list for a while due to its size and pairing, but hadn’t really had the time to tackle it until recently and I’m happy to report it was well worth the wait. Based in an alternate universe where Sam transfers from Dalton and is best friends with Blaine, this fic completely sucked me in and made me care about the characters involved, even if they weren’t always in-character. Maybe especially because they weren’t always in-character; giving the author a chance to round them out and give them realistic AU-quirks.
Better still, in my opinion, was that the author didn’t just jump right into the relationship aspect of this fic. Instead, we’re eased into the pairing and introduced to the characters with a kind of thoroughness that makes it easy to understand their motivations and why they’d want to be together. Even with all the teenage and not-so-teenage drama going on around them.
Overall, I’d recommend this fic to anyone who enjoys reads that are long, easy going, and complete in and of itself even if the author has mentioned the possibility of a sequel.

Pairing: John/Rodney
Categories: Angst, Drama, Hurt/Comfort, Romance, Alternate Realities
Length: Long (18,600 words)
Warnings: Rape, Abuse, Mpreg (briefly, for about 1,000 words-- see below!)
Author on LJ:
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Author Website: No More Tears
Summary: It starts with the fortune cookies, spilt soup, and more Johns than Rodney can shake a stick at. Or maybe that's how it ends.
Review: Once upon a time, the universe decided it was tired of waiting for John and Rodney to hook up and decided to play matchmaker. In an attempt to convince the pair that they were destined to be together, it swaps John with an alternate version of himself (or herself as the case may sometimes be) from a variety of different realities every 24 hours. Rodney is left to deal with the multiple John’s (each of whom are in a relationship with Rodney and have their own story) in the aftermath as he frantically tries to find a way to bring his John home.
This may very well be my most favorite John/Rodney story-- if not, it’s one of the highest ones on the list which should come as no surprise as SardonicSmiley is the one who wrote it (and she is my most favorite SGA Authoress).
My favorite aspect of this fic is the multitude of Johns we get to meet-- each one entirely different from one another and yet completely original. Despite the short amount of time we have to get to know them, every John is vivid and heartbreaking in his own way-- from bug!John to crazy!John to scientist!John to a John whose lost his Rodney. My favorite John is one that’s extremely protective of Rodney (for all the right reasons you’ll come to find) and married to a pregnant Meredith in his own reality.
About the mpreg warning-- please don’t let that scare you off! Pregnant!John is barely there for 1,000 words and about 500 of those words are of Rodney talking to Carter about not having a clue on how to fix what’s going on. Give it a chance-- this fic is superb and worth the read.

What appears to be a fossilized clawed hand is found in the Amazon. It leads scientist David Reed on a journey that uncovers something, and someone, he buried in his subconscious years before.
As a big classic movie fan, this fic was nearly impossible for me to pass-up. Featuring a small smattering of dialog from the film and a pretty unheard of pairing, I was surprised and delighted with how well it worked and how well the author managed to re-tell the story without it losing its original appeal. Though I have to admit I wasn’t completely enchanted with the whole mpreg aspect of the fic , I was intrigued by how Tinnean managed to get these two together and thread the impact of their inevitable romance throughout David’s life, even when he wasn't aware of it.
All in all, if you’re willing to take this fic for what it is, a not too serious romp in the lagoon, you’ll definitely enjoy it, fins and all.

Review:
What appears to be a fossilized clawed hand is found in the Amazon. It leads scientist David Reed on a journey that uncovers something, and someone, he buried in his subconscious years before.
As a big classic movie fan, this fic was nearly impossible for me to pass-up. Featuring a small smattering of dialog from the film and a pretty unheard of pairing, I was surprised and delighted with how well it worked and how well the author managed to re-tell the story without it losing its original appeal.
