Summary:
Gabriel frowns at that and then ticks the words off on his fingers as he talks. "You killed Lucifer. Someone has to rule Hell. Castiel was the closest available person who qualified for the job."..."Listen," Sam says patiently. "If someone has to rule Hell, shouldn't it at least be someone we like?"
Review:
When the Winchester's destroy Lucifer, there's an unexpected consequence: someone has to take over Lucifer's role in Hell, and the only other fallen angel around is Castiel. Dean is not pleased and Castiel isn't quite sure how to run Hell. They deal by taking occasional vacations.
This story is an odd mix of cracky humor and angst, mostly told with snappy dialogue. The ideas of Castiel running Hell like a corporation (or the TV show Oz), and primarily ruling through confusion (including his own) are hilarious, but the heart of the story is the relationship and romance between Dean and Castiel.
