Because I fail at Nanowrimo Because I only got two hours of sleep last night and my brain isn't up for more than posting a rec Because someone not too long ago requested Tin Man fics and I managed to get a rec written up before the end of the year!  (And let's face it -- the only thing better than a rec is a bonus rec:)

Title: Follow the steps of the sun
Fandom: Tin Man
Pairing: Cain/Glitch, DG/Jeb
Categories: romance, fluff
Length: medium
Warnings: n/a

Author on LJ

Review:
To celebrate the Queen and King renewing their vows, there is to be a ball. One problem -- Cain can't dance.

Sometimes you just want a sweet, romantic ball of fluff and this one is particularly well done. DG and Jeb are cute, Cain is wonderfully drawn, and the dancing is even romantic enough to satisfy me. The best part of the story, however, is Glitch/Ambrose. Tin Man authors vary widely in their interpretitation of Glitch post re-brainifying, but I think greenspine does the best job of coming up with a happy medium between the barely-functional Glitch and the relentlessly competent Ambrose and I just want to hug him (even though I'd trust him with projects that would make Glitch cry in frustration). A lovely, lyrical fic.

Oy, cut yourself some slack there, 'kay? A little writers block doesn't make for failure, no Ma'm! Plus the sleep-deprivation thing really does skew ones perspective. So no beating yourself up about this, you hear? *encourages all over the place, sends good thoughts, gives BIG HUG, bakes cake, yes with chocolate, lots of chocolate*

There :)

Thank you! And HUGS! (And I haven't heard from you in ages -- how are things going?)

>.< Sorry. And so-so, as so often of late. Aren't I tiring you out with that answer? Also still no post? I'm starting to think maybe it got lost? Which would suck like a thing that sucks a lot.

But I have my big procrastination project of joy and doom, which second draft is nearing something that will be called 'complete' soon, no matter how much it struggles and tries to slip away *holds on good and shows the thing who's boss*! Wanna give me feedback on that again? If nothing else, I could use some squee and encouragement on that front, since my brain? She gets *eaten*, I'm telling you. Tres gross, that. Also unfortunate, we sometimes get along quite well, and I like her. Erm. Well, if I'm not making sense, the reason would be that I haven't gotten enough sleep myself. That's the only reason and I'm sticking to that version *firm nod nod*.

Fair warning though, that there is a bit more John in this than in the last draft.

edited because I missed a word, yo

I know! I keep looking for it when I get home, but I have a terrible suspicion that the box got opened somehow en route and a postal worker decided that he needed chocolate more than I did. *sulk* I won't stop looking, though... Maybe it just got delayed?

As for the big project, bring it on! I can't promise that I'll be any more helpful than last time, but I can ooo and ahh with the best of them:)

(Also, I've decided to sublimate my utter inability to write my Nano novel into a feverish rush to write as many Yuletide fics as possible. The first draft of story two is now done and I'm plotting for story three. I have no life.)

They did say it could be a while. I'm not giving up yet. But if you haven't gotten it soon, I'll just have to sent you another one, don't I? And then I might even spring for the ensurance *eyes self*. But we'll wait just a bit more.

Coolness. And no worries nor hurries, if you please. I *do* have a nice and convincing patient-face around here somewhere, yes I do!

*g*

You bet! I've read some *awesomely hot* het porn of late, so I'm primed and ready. And that sounded less dirty in my head. Anywho. *holds out hand* watcha got?

Hm. I think we should move this to e-mail before the Yuletide anonymity rule is entirely blown. (But as a hint, what I have is some very vague ideas and a request I pulled from a Dear Santa letter. I'll be happy to share both -- e-mail on the way!)

::hug:: Poor thing :(
I haven't been sleeping well either (though I've managed to get more than 2 hours), but I think it's because of the sudden change in weather.

Don't be so hard on yourself. I'm sure we're all eager to read your novels (that's the one with zombies, right?), but we can be good kids and wait ;p

I don't know if it's a good or a bad sign that I'm being more productive on two hours of sleep than I have been all week (on seven hours a night). At any rate, I'm already well into my third Yuletide fic. Woo-hoo!

(Also, *someone* happens to have one of my (containing, though not focused on) zombie fics and really needs to read it before she pokes at me for the sequel :P)

Hm...*cough*...I wonder who that might be. Honestly, I've finally figured out how to read email attachments as html files on gmail. Go me!

Hope you'll sleep better tonight :)

I've just seen Tin Man for the first time (and loved it so much I've ordered the DVD) so I'm really glad to find out there's plenty of fic around! Thanks for this rec, I'll definitely check out the fic. Do you know of any others I should check out?

You might want to check out [livejournal.com profile] thegraygale, which is Tin Man's rec comm. It's not been terribly active of late, but there are a lot of fics recced there.

Other than that, I'm afraid I don't have a lot to offer -- I've mostly given up on Tin Man due to the fact that the entire fandom tends to post its fics on LJ and, though the stories are long, they are usually less than 2,000 words a chapter. I suffered through one mediocre fic with over a hundred chapters and that pretty much burned out all of my goodwill for the fandom.

Thanks, I'll have a look :)

I've been browsing the tags on delicious, and I've actually seen quite a lot of ff.net fics bookmarked there, some of which are pretty long, so it's not all on LJ. I can point you to the ff.net fics I've seen bookmarked if you want, although I'm tending towards either gen or DG/Cain so I haven't saved any of the links to other pairing fics.

I read Glitch/Cain, and there are a fair number of such fics on ff.net. Unfortunately, they aren't all that great (though I still have a couple to read if I ever get over the trauma of that 100 chapter story). In fact, I ranted about one of them over at Rants -- it's actually epic in length and overall not badly written. You might enjoy it. Here's the link to the rant:
