Review:
An old favorite of mine from when I first discovered Clark/Lex fanfiction. Essentially, Unexpected is Nix's take on the "Martha gets pregnant" storyline - apparently precognitively written before the show used the idea. ^_~ Unlike the show, it goes much further with the repercussions of Martha's pregnancy, which she does not miscarry as in the show.

It's really a piece all about character interaction. Jonathan and Martha may come off as a rather unlikeable but I think it's a valid characterization - they're great people but Jonathan especially can be rather insensitive. What I love is the way Clark turns to Lex for support and the way Lex is very much characterized as a young cutthroat businessman. It's fairly early season characterization where he is a product of his upbringing and therefore not farm-grown wholesome but not OMGEVIL. The development of their relationship and the tension in Clark's other relationships is spot-on... Not to mention that Nix writes really hot smut. ^_^
