Winter Words by stealthmuffin (PG)

It's time for our last theme week of the year, so get yourself ready for another Small Fandom Week! I've got a couple of seasonally-appropriate tiny fandom recs that I've been saving and am very eager to share:)

Title: Winter Words by stealthmuffin (PG)
Fandom: Robin McKinley (Damar Series)
Pairing: Corlath/Harry
Categories: Angst, Drama
Length: Medium

Review:
Set after The Blue Sword, Harry and Corlath share their first winter together. But Damar's winter is three months of solid rain, and even the strongest relationship can crumble under the weight of a quarter-year of confinement.

There is so little Damar fiction out there that I might have recced this even if it wasn't fabulous. Fortunately for us all, this is a beautiful, lyrical story that explores the first test of Harry and Corlath's relationship with spot-on characterization, dreamy prose, and plausible issues for a young couple. I'm especially impressed with stealthmuffin's grasp of Damar -- the winter words, the details of winter life, and the practicalities of living in the City are all wonderfully realized and expressed. A lovely story that will draw you in completely.

I know! If only there were more! (And, you know, it were longer:)

Robin McKinley has actually posted a letter asking folks not to write fanfic, which is one of the reasons why there is so little of it. My philosophy is that I pay for her books (she's one of the few authors that I actually buy just about everything she's written) and if she'd just write more of them, I wouldn't need fanfic. *cough* It sort of works, right?
