Usually I'm a strictly relationship-fic girl; I see 'gen' and I immediately go on to the next story. The thing about Samurai Champloo fic, however, is that even its gen fic is relationship fic because relationships between Fuu, Mugen, and Jin are so complex (are they friends, potential lovers, allies, enemies?) and yet so simple (family. Whatever else they are, they are family.) that they permeate any story that encompasses the three characters.

Crossroads is set immediately post-series, following Fuu as she rebuilds her life and tries to get over the loss of Mugen and Jin by perfecting her mochi.  Guess who eventually shows up to mooch free food? A funny, sweet, and ridiculously charming fic.
