Review:
It's another year at Hogwarts (urm, some mythical extra year around book five, I think) and it's time to answer the most interesting question of any Harry Potter book: who *is* the latest Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? The answer? Professor Colbert! Let's all give him a round of applause.

As you all know, I don't read a lot of Harry Potter fanfic (well, okay, back when I wrote this review I wasn't reading a lot of HP fic), but the premise of this story caught my eye and I decided to give it a shot. Man am I glad I did. Even though I've never seen The Colbert Report, I could guess what a typical show is like by the way he runs his Defense Against the Dark Arts class. The Word? Voldemort! Threat-Down #5? House-Elf Liberationists! And let's not forget the big interview (I'll let you read the story to find out who that one is). A great fic for anyone wanting a bit of snarky, sly humor.

J2 = Jared/Jensen (Supernatural RPS)...which, okay!, I don't often read.

I love how my boundaries expand every time I look around. When I started checking out fandom it was on various forums, and I would always find the people squeeing about fanfic humorous and/or a little disconcerting. Someone not usually into fic rec'd the above one to me - I checked it out, I liked it. Little did I know the seed had been sown. Then all versions of Highlander stopped being aired on my TV and I tripped across a bit of HL fic and... ::seasons changing; cue fic-search montage:: yeah, J2.

Ah, Highlander. You were such an uneven show with such a crappy last season, and yet you gave us Methos. And Joe. And, best of all, Methos *and* Joe. Why, why, why couldn't there have been a spin-off of those two?

*grin* Because (and, Lord help me, I love me some Peter Wingfield) it'd be a little weird to see the oldest immortal suddenly develop wrinkles and grey hair? But let's go with "because TPTB are complete idiots". I would have *much* preferred a Methos spin-off to an Amanda series. They only got me watching The Raven with the hopes that any of the regulars would show up. Methos had 5000 years of storylines to dig up, dammit!

Damn the aging process! Though I've seen Peter Wingfield fairly recently (in Smallville, I think) and he's held up quite well. I fully think he had a few more years in him.

I liked the Raven as a guilty pleasure, but I would have much preferred Joe and Methos on an extended road trip. That was easily the best episode of the final season (and I didn't even notice till after the fact that Duncan wasn't in the episode)!
