I love Psych. I love Supernatural. I've not come across a fic combining these two that I've enjoyed more. From Henry's admonishment at the very beginning to Shawn and Gus on the trail of zombie pets this story captures the quirkiness and humor of Psych. It's written from Shawn's POV and I think the author does a great job. Shawn's feelings in response to Sam and Dean whom he calls "most tall suit" and "least tall suit" swing manically between his respect when they're badass, frustration when they appear to be a step or two ahead, and jealousy when they help themselves to his food. His appreciation for the Impala is a great touch. A funny, enjoyable read.

Supernatural is one of those shows that can cross with any fandom. Most crossovers are okay but occasionally you come across one of those that stands head and shoulders above the rest. Defect is one of those crossovers. I've recced this many times on boards where readers are looking for a good high quality story. I like everything about this story from the way it's written, to how the story unfolds, and especially the characterizations and emotional aspects. This is one of those stories I periodically re-read and love each and every time. The connections Dean makes with Reid and Gideon while in custody are especially poignant. The lasting effect he has on both of them and Garcia adds great depth to their characterizations. Dean's internal feelings of hopelessness, resignation, and acceptance in regards to his deal are palpable. Yet he never wavers in his devotion and desire to protect Sam.

The other thing I love about this story is the relationship between Sam and Dean. I am one of those people who reads many different pairings, including Wincest, without shame but what I love more than anything is a good gen Supernatural story with a strong Sam and Dean relationship. The devotion and (platonic) love Sam has for Dean and the lengths he is willing to go to for him is one of the most resonating parts of this story. Plot wise I liked the way the author resolved Dean's deal. And I can't not mention Ellen. This story remains one of my favorite Ellen portrayals in fic ever.
