Author’s Summary: Raised hating Muggles, Harry arrives at Hogwarts a bitter boy. Unusually intelligent, he's recruited by both the Unspeakables and the Death Eaters. He becomes an Unspeakable young, and finds himself intrigued by the Veil and working with magic. His loyalty is not that to the Ministry, or the Death Eaters, but to himself. Thinking that joining the Death Eaters will prepare him for his own future and satisfy his need to destroy Muggles, he joins. But he finds himself falling deeper with the Death Eaters than he originally thought. Not only does he struggle to balance Unspeakable work, Hogwarts, and Death Eaters, but he also finds himself woven into the mystery of his parentage.

Review:
As one might guess from the summary and warnings for this fic, it is not the traditional “and they lived happily ever after” story. It’s dark and, at times, disturbing, with a wizarding world that has no idea what it’s in store for and a Harry Potter that is, essentially, not Harry Potter at all. And that’s only the beginning.

Raised in an orphanage, Harry, whose name is ‘Izar ’ in this fic, is fiercely independent, extremely intelligent, and unabashedly dark. He hates muggles, detests simpletons, and wants nothing more than to be left lurking the shadows, never noticed but always there. Unfortunately for him, that isn’t what happens.

This is one of those fics that is really hard to write a review for because so much of the story hinges on things that are revealed later that I could spoil them without meaning to. With that in mind, I’ll keep my comments vague and hope that they’ll be enough to entice you. If not, give it a chance anyway, as it’s definitely worth the read.

Let me start by saying that this is a powerhouse of a dark fic, with a long and winding plot, and enough curveballs that it’ll keep you guessing from beginning to end. While it does suffer the usual pitfalls of being perhaps too long, it makes up for it with an intriguing storyline, a complex cast of characters, and main pairing that is as captivating as it is terrifying. That’s not to mention the epic struggle between “good” and “evil” that plays out all around them.

Though there are some unanswered questions by the end of the story and some might not like how it ends, it’s an amazing and long read that is well worth giving a try, especially if you like your “Harry” dark.
