Introducing Jane's Recs

  • May. 19th, 2011 at 2:48 PM
For those of you who've been around for a while, you probably know that Epic Recs has a very complicated behind-the-scenes system in place to ensure daily rec posts and to minimize the chances of double reccing.  It's a vital part of ER's focus on high quality reccing and the comm wouldn't be the same without it.  Unfortunately, it also puts an extra burden on reccers, especially reccers who (like me) write recs weeks or even months ahead of their posting schedule, and it's one of the main causes of reccer burnout.

After nearly four years at Epic Recs and having posted almost as many recs as all of the other comm reccers combined, I have to admit that I'm a bit burned out.  On my travel-enforced hiatus I've been doing a lot of thinking about the fact that, while I don't really have the time or energy for structured reccing anymore (as is required with Epic Recs), I enjoy it enough to want to have a reccing platform available to me.  Thus I'm branching off with a new rec comm, one that is very similar to ER, but will just feature my own recs.  It's meant to compliment Epic Recs by providing more fic recommendations while simultaneously taking some of the administrative load off both myself and off of ER's current fabulous mods, [livejournal.com profile] slyprentice and [livejournal.com profile] slytherin_gypsy .

(As a quick side note, I wanted to thank [livejournal.com profile] slyprentice for posting my recs for me while I've been away.  She's got a few more of my previous stockpile left and will be posting them for the next few weeks.  Thanks, Prentice!)

So, without further ado (or, you know, babbling), let me introduce Jane's Recs ([livejournal.com profile] janes_recs  or on Dreamwidth) a multifandom fic recommendation comm focusing on well-written fics with happy endings.  If you like my recs or are just in the mood for more fanfic, come on over and check it out. If you like my recs or are just in the mood for more fanfic, come on over and check it out.  Recs will be posted in fits and bursts, but should accumulate fairly quickly as internet access allows. The first few recs are already up and ready to go!

I've always enjoyed your recs so it's not a problem posting them! I'm already looking forward to see what recs you post over there. (Any community that starts out with Alice and the Dresden Files recs can't go wrong! ;)

I have to admit, not having to run Alice and Dresden Files recs before posting them was very nice:) Now I just have to see how many recs I can post in the next couple of days before I hit the road again -- I want there to be enough to keep people occupied till I can post again.

Enjoy the recs!
