-Recced stories can be any length, any fandom, and any pairing, as long as they fit the theme

That said, have at it!

The classic due South AU is dira sudis' Hawk and Hands. The hockey AU. As a rule, I loathe professional sports and I fell in love with hockey by the end of this story. Seriously. Exceptionally well done.

A fabulous story, which I think I already recced:), but don't let that stop you from reccing more -- I'm always desperate for DS fic, especially from new and/or more obscure authors.

Thanks!

I want to rec Manna's original fiction series "The Administration" which consists of three novel length fics and roughly thirty short/er stories.

The first novel, "Mindfuck", with which everything starts is also available in book form by Casperian Books.

A summary and links to all the stories can be found here:

Seems rather long and complex; I'll have to bookmark it and wait till the weekend.
Thanks! :)

You're most welcome! Let me know how you like it sometime. It's even something for Jane, as it has, despite all the murder and mayhem, a happy ending, if you will. ;)

Thanks so much for the rec!
I spent the last couple days reading the whole series.
hehehe!
I actually also ordered the first book as well.
Now I read Mindfuck everywhere.
Oh I need sleep.

Hey, so it appears I *do* have some original fiction bookmarked.

Casualties of War by [livejournal.com profile] doctorv
The Way You Move by Hinotori

There's also [livejournal.com profile] imaginarybeasts and [livejournal.com profile] bb_shousetsu. (They're both webzines for original fiction.) I've yet to find the time to read either zine, so I don't know what quality the stories generally are.

And a few professional things:
They're Made Out of Meat by Terry Bisson
Dispatch from the E.R. by Patrick Francis (Although, rereading this, I'm not sure if it's really fiction or not. Fun story, either way.)
The Man Without a Country by Edward Everett Hale
Periodic Table of Science Fiction by Michael Swanwick
The Screwfly Solution by Raccoona Sheldon
(SciFi actually has an entire archive of classic and original scifi.)

This is my first time posting here so I wanted to start by saying how much I'm enjoying your recs, I love this site like woah!! And now onto the original fic rec:

Untitled (http://algernon-mouse.livejournal.com/401554.html) by [livejournal.com profile] algernon_mouse is the slash story of Dave/Joe (warning: some het pairings/sex). The story is under 20K words, in two parts (follow the link at the bottom of part 1), but is still an epic story of two friends who meet at age eleven and a half and many years later have a happy(ish) ending.

Anything by Parhelion, in particular the Classic Hollywood slash series (including the Devil and Cowboy Will, my favorite), but there's also a sort of fantasy series.

There's also a very, very long fantasy story (essentially a novel) called "Swallowing the Burn" and i can't remember at all who wrote it. Maybe someone on the list knows?

Also known as The God Eaters - someone linked me to it yesterday, and I haven't read it yet! Good to know that it comes so highly recommended! :)

*bookmarks page to check out later*

Here's a few recs of my own. Basically most of the original fiction I read are powerfics (BDSM, slavefics, etc) since they're not so easy to find in published fiction.

Keeper (http://www.scribd.com/doc/2060298/KRISTINE-WILLIAMS-BOOK-01-KEEPER) by Kristine Williams
Space-set science fiction story, full of plot. When Alex, the captain of a space exploration vessel, inherits a sha'erah (essentially a genetically-engineered slave) he gains both a great deal of trouble, and a new best friend. It's not a "kink" type slavefic at all, and it's not dark. Very, very long and stunningly good writing for a netfic. The link goes to the first story in the series and there are 6 in total... I'm not sure they're all up there though? I have them all saved on my computer and have re-read them many times.

Spliced (http://flighty-dreams.livejournal.com/tag/spliced) by Nevra
"A businessman finds exactly what he wants at a slave market. Or does he?" Science-fiction slavefic, this time writing to be a slavefic (if you get the difference) but still very plot and character focused rather than truly kinky. Both m/m and f/m relationships. Work in progress but updated pretty regularly (although I believe the author will be taking time away from it to write for NNWM next month).

Topping from the Bottom with a Twist (http://www.literotica.com:81/stories/showstory.php?id=21606) by sallultie
"Her slave comes home to find her tied up." Consensual BDSM, femdom, short. An unusual rec for me because it's pure, explicit kink and I usually prefer plot-focused stories (and often find sex scenes boring), but it's such an original concept that I have to rec it around everywhere, if only to encourage more people to try new things rather than writing your bogstandard BDSM story.

My Slave I Bequeath To... (http://tuawahine.livejournal.com/16595.html) by tuawahine
"When Miranda's uncle unexpectedly dies, she inherits more than just his piano." Slavefic, femdom. Okay I'm maybe being a little premature here because this only has 4 chapters so far, but hey, I like it, and it's a distinctly new take on slavefics (but based to some extent on actual reality of slavery in the ancient world) - the slave is a business professional with a skilled, high-paying job (only he isn't the one paid, naturally).

There's at least one more fic I would have recced, a really long one, but it's been removed from the 'net, presumably in an attempt to get published.

Oh, I've been following Spliced as well. Too bad the author is taking a break to write for NaNoWriMo. Keeper sounds very promising; will definitely give it a try! :)
