RR: Supernatural/Horror

  • Oct. 31st, 2010 at 8:49 PM
Halloween marks the end of our Supernatural/Horror themed week. Now it's your turn to rec us your favorite scary/creepy fics!

Things to keep in mind:
-Recced stories can be any length, any fandom, and any pairing, as long as they fit the theme
-You don't need to write a review (unless you want to). All that you need to include are title, author, and link to the story (all parts if there are more than one).
-Stories as a single file are preferred, if available.

Today's Topic: Supernatural/Horror

Previous RR topics can be found here.

Hi, newish follower here! I figured this beauty of a fic would fit perfectly here being both supernatural and epic in length.

Incubus, by Crimson
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing: Dean/OC (Sasha, the aforementioned incubus)
http://supernaturalincubus.doodlekit.com/home/fiction

the link is the the website for it, but the chapter links lead to ff.net, so it's easily downloadable into one file. It's about 2,000 pages in a pdf file if you include the major side arcs written by Deangirl (who wrote them with the author's consent and have pretty much been integrated and accepted as cannon by the author herself). It's a really good blending of drama and action that reads just like an episode of the show (with the added bonus of being easy to follow even if you've never seen more that three episodes, like me). It also has pretty much my favorite OC ever and is the only supernatural fic I've found that has realistically portrayed Dean's journey from Mr. Heterosexual to OMG-I'm-in-love-with-a-dude. It has it's faults and isn't perfect, but they are easily overlooked for the sheer awesomeness that is this fic.

Sounds really intriguing and very 'epic' indeed (the file on FF.net is over 1,000,000 words! I'm impressed). Thanks for the rec!

Re: I love this story
I don't have the pdf - sorry! - but have you tried the Way Back Machine? The link may be stored that way.

Learning to Breathe by Speranza

http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Breathe.html

Learning to Breathe is not perfect, too short by far, but if you let it roll around in your head, the implications start taking hold like coiling wires. Then, then the real horror of the story reveals itself.

Fandom: Torchwood
Title: O
Author: a_silver_story
Characters/Pairings: Jack/Ianto, Gwen/Rhys
Rating: PG-15
Word Count: 37k approx.

Summary: Jack and Ianto adopt a little girl who isn't all that she seems - but shortly after her eighth birthday she disappears, presumed dead. Five years later, Alice Carter is found curled up in her walk-in wardrobe, her features twisted into a macabre expression of horror. The cause of death leads the remnants of Torchwood straight to a mysterious videotape that apparently kills all those who watch it in seven days - and for Torchwood, the clock is ticking.

This was one of the stories from this years Torchwood Big Bang, and is a crossover with Kôji Suzuki's 'Ringu' universe.

I loved the twists and turns this story takes. You can take nothing for granted until afterward when you go: Doh! Of course that's what really happened. Why didn't I figure that out before?
