Review:
After the infamous Duranda Incident, Rodney is being Shunned, so much so that he takes a routine task way out on a distant balcony in bad weather just to get away. Too bad he slips and falls over the edge of said balcony. Now though, he has to decide: does he take John's proffered hand, or does he let himself fall?

I've dithered over this rec for months now, primarily because of this story's length. As is often the case with SGA fic, this story is too short. Really, truly too short. As in, it should be at least five times longer to do justice to the concept.

On the other hand, the image of Rodney clinging to the railing is one that has haunted me since the first reading and I come back to the story again and again because of that image. Plus, I have a huge jones for well-done post-Trinity fic, and this is one of the best. So I do recommend you read it, and just hope that lavvyan expands the story some day so we can get our fix of whumpage.

Aww, really? That saddens to hear. I loved your stuff. Sadly, SGA is my only current fandom (well, apart from a few more obscure ones), but thank you very much for the offer. I'll see what I can do, but I'm promising nothing.

I can't say that I'll never write SGA (I've learned never to say never:), but it doesn't appear to be something that I'll be doing in the near future.

What are your obscure fandoms? I totally need an excuse to write a Matador fic (or a Sunshine fic, a Wire in the Blood fic, a Dear Frankie fic, a...:)

Do you need an excuse to write a Dexter fic? Or, ooh, a Rome fic? Although, give me half a year and I'll probably take you up on that Due South fic. ;)

Hm. Dexter's an interesting thought. I don't have any ideas right now, but there's a whole second season I haven't seen yet...

Are you watching DS now? If not, it's a fantastic show that's held up really well, so you should go watch it. Um, thank you kindly.

*cough*

This is the longest Tuesday *every*...

I still need to watch the last three episodes of season two, but boy, do I love that show. *cheerfully roots for the psychotic serial killer*

I downloaded the first season of DS and just need some time to watch it.

What's wrong with today?

He really is the most sympathetic character on the show, isn't he?

Fair warning when it comes to DS fic -- there are two Rays and the most popular fanfic Ray is the one who doesn't show up till S3. (Apparently this actually led to massive flame wars, which makes me happy that I entered the fandom so late...) Though what does it matter when you have The Mountie (Paul Gross may just be the prettiest man in, well, ever).

Reports. Meetings. Possible blind date with co-worker's son. (I've never been on a blind date before, but from what I've heard, they aren't much fun.) More reports.

Plus I'm feeling guilty because I haven't written anything in two weeks:)

He is! Which is insane and more than a little schizophrenic and I love the show even harder for that. :D

Uh. There are two guys on the show who are both called Ray, or there's one Ray who's played by two actors? *confused*

I've only ever been on one blind date, but it was fun and lasted for four hours despite me having had only one hour of sleep the night before because our basement was under water. Good times. *g*

Huh. I'm currently writing the last two bits for the 14 Valentines project and then I'm going to take time off from writing, period. Am I ever looking forward to that!

Plus, Michael C. Hall (?) is fantastic -- I thought he was wooden on Six Feet Under and now I realize it was the *character* who was wooden, because he isn't wooden at all.

Hee. This is a spoiler for the series, but I would have liked to know it was coming ahead of time, so... In the first two seasons, you have Ray Vecchio. At that point the show was cancelled and David Marciano (who played Ray) found another job. And then the show was picked up again. I'm not entirely sure what went on behind the scenes, but David did not end up coming back. Instead, they cast Callum Keith Rennie (hugely popular Canadian actor) to play Ray Kowalski, who, for reasons that don't make sense unless you really get DS logic, goes undercover as Ray Vecchio (while Ray Vecchio goes undercover as a mob guy). So, two different Rays, played by two different actors. I personally like both, but I think Kowalski works better in slash. Apparently most of fandom agrees with me, though there is some Fraser/Vecchio fic out there. (Also Ray/Ray fic, which I can't quite wrap my head around, but it seems to be the hot couple to write.) Anyway, more than you wanted to know, I'm sure:)

Right now it looks like we'll be going snow shoeing which...hm. On the one hand, I've never been snow shoeing and really would like to give it a try. On the other hand, if we really don't get along, then I'm stuck forty miles from civilization with a guy I don't really know all that well. So a bit of nervousness there.

Do you just write fanfic or original fic as well? I don't feel particularly guilty if I'm not writing fanfic; it's when I slack off of my original fic that gives me issues.

Congrats on wrapping up your 14 Valentines project!

Ah. Okay, that sounds... complicated. *g*

Snow shoeing. o_O Is that like, a sport or something? Just wobbling across the snow?

I write mainly fanfic. Every now and then something original pops up, though weirdly enough those are mostly children's stories. Gay porn and stories about dragons living in closets right next to the summer dresses. *shakes head at self*

Thank you! It's been exhausting but fun. :D

Snow shoeing involves strapping show shoes (urm, hard to describe if you've never seen them before, but essentially their purpose is to increase the surface area of the bottom of your shoes) onto your shoes and walking on the top of snow. Probably harder than it sounds, but it does sound like fun.

Thanks for chatting and have a wonderful day!

OMG! Dexter fic! Can I bribe you to write one? You MUST see the second season; it's brilliant (although it has little to do with the second book).

The problem is that I'm currently lacking Showtime (or, you know, a TV), so I have to wait till the DVDs come out. Hopefully that won't be long now...
