Summary:Javert Sits up at attention when his old handler, Gisquet, lets himself into the mayor's office, excited, but Gisquet doesn't immediately look at him - Gisquet glances over at Javert's new human, instead, and only after receiving some sort of signal does he amble over to give Javert a pat.hope I'm not.
Review:This is a cute and fluffy short fic, where Javert is re-imagined as a modern day police dog, with a penchant for being overprotective of his partners. After an incident when he attacks criminals who have incapacitated his partner. When there is outcry for him to be put down, the mayor adopts him as a seeing eye dog.
The story is told almost completely from Dog!Javert's POV, with the occasional aside in omniscient third, to give the reader a more encompassing understanding of what is being said. What I love about the story, is how in-character Javert still is, even though he's a police dog, without full understanding of what is going on in the world around him. Manic-Intent does a great job, as always, showing an alternate POV and sticking to it, even when the story isn't easy to tell from this type of POV.
There is a little bit of a casefic towards the end of the story, to help wrap things up and get Javert to understand his new place with 'his' pack.
All together a sweet, found family fic, you can read in under 30 minutes, that will leave you smiling for hours afterwards. You don't need to be familiar with Les Mis, to get lots of the subtext going on in the fic.
