Review:
You'd think it would be easiest to write a review for your all time favorite fanfic, but I find it a little daunting. There's too much to say, and not only due to its epic length, so I'll hope that if you aren't a regular HD reader who will undoubtedly have seen this verse, you might give it a try on the basis that years after I first read it, this is still my favorite.

Sara's Girl makes all moments engaging, from betting dessert over who had the worst shift at the hospital, to stopping a murderer, and from office supplies (how does she make even that warm and inviting?!) to getting Draco Malfoy to open up to something more with Harry Potter.

I love that this starts with a believable amount of antagonism between them, and that the forced proximity of Harry working under Draco in ChemDep allows for greater understanding. I love that Sara's Girl gives every moment care and attention in a way that makes you feel you're there. Draco is reserved but much mellowed underneath due to all he's been through. Harry didn't like it as an Auror trainee, but is just right becoming a Healer and getting on with his life. Narcissa is wonderfully written, as are the brilliant original characters, and Hermione, Ron, and Ginny.

After I enjoyed Reparations, it surprised me that I loved its sequel, Foundations, even more. There was a lot to be worked out between them still and to be dealt with after the upheaval of all that happened at St Mungo's. Plus there are the plot lines with young Clive, and Draco getting to run the program his way. And if you're missing the flapping cupboard after that, don't worry; he appears in a couple of the related one shots, including one of my favorites, Cupboard Love.

Above all else, the thing I love about Sara's Girl is the generosity and warmth in many of her characters, both minor and major, even in their darkest moments, and even after it's been momentarily obscured by their anger or fear. If you've read it already, you may well have been moved by it too. I read her work, and I think, yes, I want to listen more and find the best in people, even when it isn't easy or comfortable. I can't ask for much more than that.

If you've already read her other works, here's a heads up, in case you missed it, that she posted a new lovely epic length story for [livejournal.com profile] hd_smoochfest 2013 that was recently de-anoned: All Life is Yours to Miss.

Just slightly off-topic, but I absolutely loved All Life is Yours to Miss. I love [livejournal.com profile] saras_girl's writing, and the sense of security you get when you start reading one of her fics -- you know you're in the hands of an author you can trust, which is especially important if you're beginning to set your teeth into a real epic, because you're committing to being in for the long haul.

Yes. And I think enough readers love Stanley that he's going to end up with an official fan club or something. ;)

Seconded, thirded, and everything else.

Though I might love Turn even more.

Which, after three months, I'm still trying to write a coherent comment for. *headdesk*

Turn. So well thought out and beautifully written. (For anyone else who's stopping by: link to Turn) I had a hard time picking between the two. I think Foundations won out due to being the first thing I read by her, and that feeling of "Oh god, what have I found!!" has never gone away.

It's not fair that the stories I love the most tend to leave me keysmashing something about "extra good wow" as I try to process the many ways I love them. ;) I don't envy you the task of distilling the joys of Turn down to a short review.
