Summary:“Hey Lewis! We need you out here. Got a big order. And you gotta see this guy.” Kelly shouted as she held open the swing door. Darcy huffed and grabbed a cloth, wiping her hands clean and straightening out her blue and red uniform.

“What’s the problem? Did you not read the sign?” Darcy snarked pointing up at the blackboard that read ‘Menu: Slice of Pie and Coffee. If you don’t like it, get out.’

Review: Promises and Pie crusts is the Avengers answers to those romance novels that have recipes worked into them as part of the plot. And it does the job very, very well.

Whenever I read it, which is a couple times since it was published in February, I'm tempted to ignore the fact that I can't bake my way out of a paper bag, and try some of the recipes. Agent Pie and Hulk Smash Pie in particular sound like a lot of fun.

What really impresses me about the fic though, is the characterization. Merideath managed to work in both Darcey and Steve's backstory and personality so well that you don't think twice about seeing two characters that never met in cannon meet and fall in love through the magic of well-baked pies.
