Review:
This is a fantastic AU look into Chris, his quest to save his brother, and an exploration of what fate and destiny mean to him. It picks up after what we saw on the show; Chris has been killed by Gideon and is given a choice of what he wants next. Instead of taking what’s offered he comes up with a third option, one that helps save Leo and thus continues Chris’ story beyond what we saw on the show.

I loved the pace of this, the storytelling, the characters, and the way the author fleshed it out based on bits from the show. It’s a fascinating AU look into what turns Wyatt evil and the lengths Chris will go to save his family as well as the toll it takes on him. The final confrontation between Chris and Wyatt is tangible, emotional, fraught, and well written. The entire story builds up to it and everything coalesces for the reader and the characters. The author does a great job making you feel the hopelessness, resignation, and heartbreak Chris goes through as he and Wyatt face off.

This fic is part of a lengthy series. The prequel, which I haven’t read, is just over 90K words, and I’m partway through the sequel which punches in at over 100K words. However, No Fate stands complete and riveting on it’s own.
