Review:
The Real Ghostbusters fandom is particularly strong in the h/c and smarm arena so there are scads to choose from, but this is one of my favorites not just in RGB but in any fandom. It's based off the episode "The Fix" from the seventies cop show Starsky and Hutch. The author takes the premise and translates it over beautifully. Mara's writing style is quite elegant and vivid - even knowing basic plot line doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the reading experience.

Essentially, Peter gets in over his head when he takes on a solo bust while the other three are out of town (the titular "simple class four") and is held captive. Instead of the typical intimidation and/or physical torture that would then ensue, the villain here instead gets him hooked on heroin. It is a hurt scenario that I find personally to be truly horrifying.

On the flip side, the comfort side of the story is just as good as the guys rally around Peter. I found the comforting particularly poignant in this story because it was really all that could be done. There is little medical aid for the situation and Peter has to struggle through the withdrawal with only the support of his teammates. All three of the others get a chance to shine in the situation.
