Review:
This story, which takes place after the events of the movies Batman Begins and Superman Returns, has the titular characters meeting each other in and out of costume… and disliking each other almost instantly. So of course they end up falling head over heels. What Jen does so well during this series is show us two men who find common ground even while acknowledging what may set them apart. The Batman in this story isn’t the Dark Knight so much as a young man still coming to grips with the actions and responsibilities inherent in fighting for justice. The Superman in this story is an alien first and foremost – Kal-El – whose alter ego is Clark Kent, not the other way around, and time is spent with the character as he deals with being truly different from the humans he’s sworn to protect.

There are three arcs and a handful of interludes/prologue pieces (the interactions between Martha Kent and Alfred are hysterical), and various archnemeses make appearances (Lex Luthor, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, and Two-Face [who’s given an intriguing bit of back story connecting him to Bruce Wayne by Jen]) for the requisite action/drama, but the story focuses on the connection made between the two superheroes. It’s one of those pieces I pull out when I want to savor a romance with a dollop of superhero derring-do plus writing that’s excellently paced and, in places, like lyrical prose in tone.

I'm glad you liked it. Jen has a couple other Bat/Supe stories on her LJ, and there are lots of DC-based stories out there in the ether. :)

Do you still have a copy of this or know where else I can go to read it? Because, apparently, the author deleted all of her posts on her blog after making a new one announcing her hiatus. D: And I really, really wanted to read it! =/

The author's new journal is here: [livejournal.com profile] jij (also on hiatus), and Music of the Spheres can be found as tagged entries (http://jij.livejournal.com/tag/spheres). Go all the way to the beginning. Unfortunately I can't edit this entry but hopefully this comment will show you the way. :)

OH! I did not know that! Thank you for letting me know. <3

I was so desperate to find it that I searched her up in LJSeek and went back 40 pages (about 400 past posts)... where it promptly died. So I never did find it (until now).

So, once again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! <3

*grins widely* Thank you! Since I'm gonna be a graphic/web designer for a career, I'm really picky with my icons. <3
