Review:
Starting right after the season four finale (which I had to look up -- that's when Rory slept with a married Dean and how did I forget how screwed up that relationship got?), Rory and Emily go off to Europe together, while Lorelai and Luke begin a new relationship.

In Anne Tyler's The Accidental Tourist, frequent traveler Macon Leary has a book that he carries with him because it can be opened up at any point and be entertaining, without regard to plot or continuity. That's how I feel about Separation Anxiety. It's a bit overlong and there's a section in the middle that gets a bit melodramatic and confusing. However, the writing is *superlative*. Every scene in this story sparkles with wit, the characters are vibrant and true to the canon, and the dialogue is simply perfect.

I don't recommend that you sit down and try to read Separation Anxiety straight through; instead, I recommend that you save it for times when you're in the mood to curl up under a blanket with a hot beverage and spend a chapter or two with Luke and the fabulous Gilmore Girls.
