Review:
Hermione gets the great idea of creating a potion that will allow her and Ron to share their power with Harry. Until, of course, Severus interrupts the brewing process and inadvertently finds himself bonded to Harry instead.

My favorite part of this fic has to be the fact that there is no sexual component to the bond between Severus and Harry (which, when you really think about it, makes a lot more sense than a penetration requirement, which has always bugged me about bonding!fic in every fandom -- what if the bond occured between two women? Or with a heterosexual couple?). In fact, all the bond really does in the beginning is prevent Harry and Severus from getting too pissed off at each other. Amazing what a lack of rage can do for a relationship.

Meri usually has a tendency to both show and tell in her fic, but she's reined that in for Sanguis-Vinculum. As a result, the story has a faster pace, better flow, and a tighter overall feel, all of which combine to create a wonderful read. Couple that with an interesting take on a popular cliche, great characterization, especially of the secondary characters, and some very perceptive thoughts on Harry and you have a great story to fill an afternoon and long into the evening.

Hee! I have a huge backlog of HP, Sentinel, and (oddly enough) Jeeves & Wooster recs that I'm trying to get through, so expect more of all three over the next few weeks!

No penetration requirement, how novel! ::runs off to read::

Um, I had to take a break from ... that really long fic the name of which I can't remember. But when I get back to it, and finish it, I'll get you that death tally. Promise!

Hee! Now you know how I feel:) Did you just burn out on it for a bit, or is it a time constraint?

Burned out on the angst. My personal life took a downturn, and I needed fluff pretty badly for a while. ... Still do, actually. Or at least h/c with a larger quotient of c. ._.

H/C with plenty of C? That's an Epic Recs specialty:)

Yeah, I've been finding it hard to read too much angst these days myself...this is why I like even my dark fics to have hints of humor.

Yeah, I know it is! I just wish I could get into The Sentinel. Meh. So not turned on by either guy, couldn't get through the first two episodes, argh. The things I do trying to join a fandom ... ._. Now, if you guys rec'd more Mag 7 fics ... Heh.

Yeah, The Sentinel canon is pretty...well, crappy. I made it through the first four episodes by using them as background noise while doing dishes. The fanfic is pretty good, though, as long as you are able to read a fandom without watching canon. (If you'd like to give it another shot, Dasha's No Big Deal is good for explaining pretty much the entire series while giving you a good dose of slash at the same time -- it's recced here: http://community.livejournal.com/epic_recs/20160.html)

Unfortunately I don't read Mag 7, though I might be soon -- I just put the series in my Netflix queue (and who knew that there was a second season?)

Well, unfortunately, I really, really don't find either guy attractive. It's not like I haven't gotten into fandoms prior to the source material before. But usually for a hot guy. (To my standards of hotness - I recognize that someone must find those two pretty. ::shrug::) Now, Mag 7 - I know the movie better. But I have the series on my queue as well! I've seen a couple of episodes, and it's fairly cheesy. But I am shallow, and for Eric Close (Vin) will sit through just about anything ... (And the guy who plays Chris was John Connor's father in the first Terminator! You know, the cute guy that died. :( And he was in Aliens! I definitely ship his character with Ripley. ... Mainly because he lived. But there was legit chemistry, I swear!)

See, for me the actual physical appearance of the characters has absolutely nothing to do with what I imagine when I'm reading, so the hotness of the actors doesn't really impact me. Though I agree that neither one is my type, either.

And I love Eric Close (yay, Now and Again)! And Michael Biehn! (Who was also in The Abyss, actually -- James Cameron tends to use the same actors repeatedly in his movies.) And yeah, Ripley and Hicks totally should have gotten together -- actually, I've heard that Cameron was really ticked when the third movie started with Hicks and Newt being killed, and I can't say that I disagree...

Ahem. All of which boils down to -- yay hot guys!

... Shut up, Hicks and Ripley are off making babies. In space! There is no other reality. o.o

Well, yeah, I'm that shallow. I try, I really do, but I get hung up on trying to fit what I'm reading with what I see, and it's such a huge disconnect ... I can deal with a lot of wacky things being eroticized, but for some reason, I just can't get the actual appearance of those two actors out of my head. Blair especially, he's just ... fuzzy, and oddly colored. Or something. He irks me. He's irksome ...

Oh, right! I keep forgetting he was in the Abyss. Actually, I just recently figured out how many movies Biehn has been in - he looks so different in each one!

I wish Now and Again were out on DVD. :(

And someone needs to write that fic so much!

Yeah, the Blair in the show and the Blair in my head are really different. And *Simon* -- I just can't even attempt to reconcile Simon from the show with the Simon in my mind. I kind of shudder every time I see the other guy on the screen.

It's amazing how different he looks just by changing his hair! Also? He doesn't do shirtless scenes *nearly* often enough. Just saying...

So do I:( Though there are a (very) few good Now and Again fics out there:

-- I've just started reading this one and am impressed so far.

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1731383/1/In_Pullus_Veritas
--Not a perfect story, but surprisingly sweet and likely the most probable outcome to Michael's identity being revealed to his family (at least without someone, you know, dying).

Ooh, thanks for the recs! Wish I remembered the show better ... I haven't seen it since it, you know, came out. ... It's got to be gankable somewhere. ::schemes::

Wasn't he shirtless in Terminator? I have fond memories ... And yes, every movie, shirtless!

There should be a Hicks/Ripley fandom. (Sadly, almost the second they had a smidgen of chemistry I was shouting OTP at the screen. I was just lucky that he lived. Hah. Yes, they adopted that little girl and are having kids of their own on their space winnebago. ... Or whatever. I'm iffy on job/housing details. Eh.)

I know -- I'm pretty good at remembering shows, but as I'm reading Murphy's law, I keep asking 'wha-who is that? Am I supposed to know that person?'

Ah, yes, Terminator. There was a lot of pretty in the Terminator movies:)

Okay, I'm going to janes_challenge *right now* to post that. Seriously! Yes!

(Hey, have you been following the discussion on The Apple Tree over at epic_rants? It seems like your cup of tea:)

Sweet! I hope someone takes you up on that - I'd love to see that fic come to life. I just lack the motivation to write it myself ...

Hmm. I just started watching Murphy's Law the other day. I'm having trouble getting into it, I guess.

I put The Apple Tree in a new tab to read, and I just haven't gotten around to it (I came across a ton of Mag7 epic-length fics, so I'm kinda ... busy), but I'll head over there and see what people are saying. Thanks for the tip!

It's a pretty interesting discussion -- Philo (author of The Apple Tree) came over for a chat. It's gotten lengthy:)

Ooo, and if any of those Mag 7 fics prove to be good, please share the links? Thanks!

Mm, yeah, everything here: http://www.thebrowsery.us/gilhale/m7-toc.html

There's even Sentinel crossovers! (The only way I can stomach Sentinel, hurrah!) The odd thing about Mag7, the majority of the stories seem to be set in an AU where the team is in the ATF in modern times. Wacky. But fun. And while the AU is extreme, I can really see the characters in these fics. This gil hale person is pretty damn good. ^_^

I also ran across this site: http://hometown.aol.co.uk/juliaverinder/index.htm Haven't gotten to the longer stories yet, but the shorter ones that I've read are solid. And this http://blackraptor.net/WAT-Fic/ appears to just be a massive collection of allsorts, but I've come across a few good ones. Happy hunting!
