Title: Combustion
Fandom: Transformers(Movie)
Pairing: Bumblebee/Sam
Categories: Romance, Drama, Angst
Length: Epic
Warnings: Human/Alien romantic relationship
Author on LJ: n/a
Website: Fanfiction.net page
Author's Summary: With Megatron defeated and the decepticons MIA, life begins to settle down for Sam. Except that his relationship with Mikaela isn't working, and maybe that's because things with Bumblebee are going a little too well.
Review:
While at first glance it's hard to imagine this pairing working in any form other than friendship, Atlantia does a wonderful job of convincing readers that it can (and will) work if only you give it a try and are open to new possibilities. While I can't lie and say that this story is flawless (what story is?), it can be said that it's a unique, memorable, and rather heart wrenching romance between a human andhis car an autobot that tests the characters preconceived notions of what is right and what is wrong in the face of unconditional love and any force (human, alien, or fate) that threatens it.
That having been said, I have to say that I was impressed with the approach the author took for Sam and Bumblebee's relationship. There was no shying away from the fact that Bumblebee is a sentient robotic lifeform and Sam is very much a human despite the fact that the Cube has gifted and cursed him (saying more would be giving away the plot). Overall, I'd say this was definitely worth a read, even if the idea of an autobot and a human squicks you, because sometimes some things can transcend even speices barriers.
Combustion
(It needs to be mentioned that Ignition is the much anticipated sequel to 'Combustion', which features more growth to both Sam and Bumblebee's relationship and overall plot, however it hasn't been updated since late '07, so take it or leave it as you choose).
