Review:
Quantum Leap has always been my 'hard candy' fandom. You know the kind I'm talking about: the fandom you always keep going back to because you know what you're getting into and even if you don't end up liking it, it’ll always satiate a craving for you. That’s what QL is for me and the craving it tends to satiate is the angst or bittersweet love craving I get from time to time. Don’t get me wrong, I love pretty much every QL story I’ve read, but unless Sam finally makes the leap home, it’s never really happy, is it?

Never Fair is a prime example of what I mean. It's as bitter as it is sweet and goes a long way to encapsulating one of the ways that Sam and Al could finally be but not really be together. Which is about standard for the fandom. Even so, this doesn't read like an episode, but more of a character insight because even though Sam has leaped into someone's life to put right what once went wrong, he finds himself doing something he rarely does: using the leap as a way to battle loneliness and get real human connection. The kind of connection he wants with Al and Al, for his part, is realizing he wants the same. Even if they can't have the way we do.
