Review:
According to his personnel file, John has a death wish. Shocking. And of course, Rodney being the nosy man he is, reads said file and the subsequent miscommunication leads to sex. Heh. Post-nookie, Rodney's even more bothered by John's suicidal streak, but what is driving him up the wall is how everyone else on base caters to that tendecy...

Speranza always writes good fic, and MVP is no exception. John is reliably angsty, Rodney manages to be sympathetic and, well, Rodney, and the sex between the two of them is surprisingly hot to a jaded girl like me. A little more length would have been great, but as is the story is definitely a must read for SGA fans.

Oh, this is a fantastic story! Actually, I LOVE everything by Speranza. I think her "Written by the Victors" (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Victors.html) seriously deserves its own rec page. It's OMGepic! and without a single useless word. Beautiful! Just beautiful. There's one thing I didn't like about the story, but it probably won't affet anyone else.

I've been recced this before, but I just couldn't get past the premise. I think the problem lies in the fact that I'm just not very fond of the military or of political plotlines. That doesn't really matter in shows like SG-1 or SGA, because the military is waaaay more laid back than in reality (still don't like the political plotlines though -- I tend to use those as background noise while doing chores). Also, SGA seems to be my fluff/humor fandom. When I need plausible angst, I prefer TS or DS.

Ahem. Anyway, I'm glad you liked MVP! Thanks for commenting:)

Yes, yes, well, you know how much I dislike military/police plotlines. The one thing I didn't like about this story is actually a political subplot... It was a reasonable subplot, but I just really didn't like the way things worked out (realistic plot, but I still don't have to like it, right?).
Harry Potter is my ANGST fandom. ;p

Hee! We all have to have one:)

Would you have any interest in reccing Harry Potter? I'm looking for guest reccers to cover fandoms I don't currently rec.

Sure... Hm, but I thought you haven't read the last book yet. You don't mind spoilers? I can put appropriate warnings.
Fluff/angst/advanture/etc, any preference?

Actually, I was thinking of you reccing for the community at large, in which case you can rec anything you want;) Sound interesting?

Not a problem! This sounds very interesting. I'll have to go back and re-read some of my favourite HP fics *as soon as I finish re-reading The Proposition*.

That works for me:)

I've got some guidelines that I posted a few days ago, but they basically boil down to: make sure you give us fair warning if the story isn't first-time fic and/or if it has a really sad ending; and summarize and write an actual review for the fic, even if it's just a couple of sentences along the lines of "In this fic [x] does [y] and I liked it because of [z]". Oh, and let me know when you're ready to post reviews, so I can add you to the list of folks who can post to the community.

Thanks!

That sounds great! Thanks. I'm sure I'll convert you to angsty HP slash in no time. I'll let you know when I have the recs ready :)

Excellent:) (Just a heads up, my next three weeks are crazy (Thanksgiving, vacation, NaNoWriMo), so if I don't get back to you immediately, it's just cause I'm away from the internet. I'll get back to you as soon as I can.)
