RR -- Crack!fic

  • Sep. 21st, 2007 at 8:42 AM

I'm about halfway through the SGA Big Bang stories, and I can safely say that the challenge could have been named 'SGA AngstFest 2007' and it would have gotten similar, if shorter, results.  Not that angst is a bad thing, but I'm in need of a break.  Thus I turn to you, my loyal readers.  Please feed me some crack.

Things to keep in mind:
-Recced stories can be any length, any fandom, and any pairing, as long as they fit the theme
-You don't need to write a review (unless you want to).  All that you need to include are title, author, and link to the story (all parts if there are more than one).

That said, have at it!

Today's Topic: Crack!fic
(Note: I would *love* some SGA crack!fic, as it's a good fandom for that and I really need some happiness for McKay.  Also, I'm running out of DS stories, so any Due South crack would be doubly appreciated.)

Previous Topics:
Genres:
-Marriage of Convenience
-Harleqin AUs
-Homeless!fic
-Humor
-Fluff

Fandoms:
-
Long Due South AUs
-Crime Procedurals (anyone posting Bones (Boothe/Bones) or Monk (Stottlemeyer/Disher) fic gets a rec in any fandom of their choice, even if I have to acquaint myself with the fandom first)
-Due South fic (F/V would be a bonus, as I haven't read any before)
-
The Sentinel
-Highlander

Pairings:
-Epic McShep

Are crack crossovers okay? 'Cause I like those.

Ouran Academy Guest Lecturers Series - Japanese Literature by [livejournal.com profile] peroxidepest17 (Fruits Basket/Ouran): Shigure teaches a class at Ouran. Probably won't make much sense if you aren't familiar with both series, but if you are, it's fantastic.

The Scarab by BK the Irregular (Buffy/SG1): The Goa'uld start using vampires. Lots of fun action/adventure.

Upon a Fiery Steed by Vathara (Gundam Wing/SG1): This is probably the most crackish of the stories because it's more or less impossible to do a GW crossover without making GW really AU and hence very bizarre. But it's crack that's long and has plot.

Actualize This by Helena Handbasket (Invisible Man/Sentinel/SG1): Fawkes, Hobbes, Jim, Blair, Jack, and Daniel are all forced to attend some sort of teambuilding retreat. Again, lots of fun action/adventure.

Untitled Crack Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 by [livejournal.com profile] niqaeli (House/Thursday Next): Thursday ends up as one of House's patients. Unfinished, but what's there is delightful.

Highly Classified and Very Hush Hush and Strictly on a Need to Know Basis by [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock (NCIS/SGA): It's always good crack when people end up accidentally transported somewhere they shouldn't be. And are naked.

I realized I could make an entire subsection of things that are "[insert fandom here] in Atlantis!" so.

Oh, I just found something that is pure crack disguised as a mission. And it's not a crossover.

Plan 9 from Outer Space by [livejournal.com profile] mos_self
Summary: Zelenka in sequins and an Elvis wig, Novak dressed as Cheerleader Barbie, and Kusanagi as Santa Claus. Definitely not your standard rescue operation, Lorne told himself as he adjusted his Mickey Mouse ears.

Well, there's McShep in it, but the focus is on Lorne.

Holy cow, recs! I've read one of these already (Ducklings) and loved it, so I'm looking forward to exploring the rest. Thanks!

Well, I'm not sure if this is crack!fic as it's not, y'know, non-stop laughs but it is one of my go-to fics-- Amireal's Buffy/CSI crossover, Electron Bonding.

And, one of the stories that I consider crackfic and is also a bit longer is James' Small Fry series. It's AtS/BtVS and involves little people and hurting yourself laughing.

Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Title: How to Succeed in Sexual Blackmail Without Really Trying (http://thorne-scratch.livejournal.com/164320.html)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] thorne_scratch
Pairing: Cloud/Reno, subtle implications of Cloud/Seph and not-so-subtle Cloud/Zack
Rating: R
Summary: The ballad of Cloud and Reno. Sort of.

Fandom: Final Fantasy VIII
Title: The Island Closest to Hell's Kitchen (http://thorne-scratch.livejournal.com/157192.html)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] thorne_scratch
Pairing: impled Quistis/Xu (maybe?)
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Author's Notes: I don't have an excuse for this, except sometimes you get a very stupid idea, and then you have to write it out for fear it will otherwise hang out in your brain for all eternity, smoking up behind the gym and peer-pressuring all the other story ideas into trying to jump the ol' gorge on a skateboard.
