Author's Summary: Derek doesn’t kill him, but it takes three days for the bite to take.
Review:
Any hope Stiles has that Jackson "won’t be an asshole for eight and a half seconds" after the bite is shot down. But secretly, the thing that keeps Jackson from shifting is the steady beat of Stiles' heart. Jackson's not thrilled by that, but Stiles is the one helping him cope with triggers of fear, anger and arousal, and the heartbeat works, so he sticks with it.
There's a lot to like. Jackson's emotional rollercoaster keeps the tone moving between gruff and vulnerable. Stiles is in character; he's willing to help, but not afraid to mouth off to a new werewolf. The growing relationship between the two is terrific. The dialog's also great, as is the writing throughout, and there's a well thought out subplot about Jackson's relationship to Derek as his alpha.
it fills my head up and gets louder (at AO3)
