It has come to my attention that the explanation and execution of the Reader's Recs is making no sense whatsoever. Er, sorry about that (please continue to send feedback like that in, BTW -- this community is for you, and I'd like it to be as useful as possible:)
To that end, I'm switching things up a bit. First of all, RR's will be posted as I come up with them, rather than at a set time each week. They have nothing to do with the recs I post each week, so please don't feel limited by the fandoms I'm reccing in or the pairings I'm posting.
Secondly, I'll be posting links to all past RR's each time I post a new one. If you read a story that fits into an earlier theme/topic, please feel free to rec away!
Things to keep in mind:
-Recced stories can be any length, any fandom, and any pairing, as long as they fit the theme
-You don't need to write a review (unless you want to). All that you need to include are title, author, and link to the story (all parts if there are more than one).
That said, have at it!
Today's Topic: Homeless!fic
Previous Topics:
Genres:
-Marriage of Convenience
-Harleqin AUs
Fandoms:
-Long Due South AUs
-Crime Procedurals (anyone posting Bones (Boothe/Bones) or Monk (Stottlemeyer/Disher) fic gets a rec in any fandom of their choice, even if I have to acquaint myself with the fandom first)
-Due South fic (F/V would be a bonus, as I haven't read any before)

Sentinel slash fanfiction - Legion's Denatured: http://www.squidge.org/~theforest/lrecent/Silent.htm
Jim/Blair.
There was another one, I think by Em Brunson, but I also think that that migth have been a WIP and I can't find a weblink to it either...
Also, I think Em's site's been down for, like, ever. It's a pity, too, as I hear great things about her writing, but haven't had a chance to read any of it yet.
Legion has another sorta homeless fic - "Grey Realities" - I think if you go to her home page it's at the 'older than a year' stories.
http://www.squidge.org/~theforest/larchive/archive.html
It's the third of a series, though, so... *shrug*.
And for gen Sentinel fic (in case you haven't found these two) -
http://www.skeeter63.org/~tvlit101/senttab.htm
TVlit 101. I like all of her series; she says there's more on the way, but it's been a long time since she updated, and I don't think she's on LJ.
Gen, with a shading to slash, with Sentinel crossover with ... everything - Due South, CSI, SGA (this one is slash and is archived on wraithbait) is Dasha's Imperfections series.
http://www.skeeter63.org/~tslibrary/authors/auth-dasha.htm
She has an LJ as well (which is how I found some of her other tie-ins to Imperfections that weren't archived at the Sentinel page):

Um. Random recs - completely UNRELATED to the Homeless theme or the Sentinel week coming up... (as I was looking over my flist, they occurred to me)
Harry Potter (Severus Snape/Harry Potter):
(ok, I cheated. There's two. One I meant, and one I found on the way to the one I meant to rec... *headdesk* (and then I get distracted into yet another story while I'm searching down that particular rec. *sigh*))
Cluegirl's "Severus Snape and the Ghostwritten Romance": http://archive.skyehawke.com/story.php?no=3594
This is a riff off of Cyrano - but personally? I like it better than the story it was based off of. *g*.
And... you might want to check anything that Cluegirl has written:
http://archive.skyehawke.com/authors.php?no=228
Is on LJ as well.
Caligraphy's "The Fourth Year" and "So Lonely Without You": http://archive.skyehawke.com/authors.php?no=845
is the author page with the fic.
Lord of the Rings (Legolas/Gimli): Brancher's "They say of the Elves" http://www.trinityslash.com/other/TSAE.html
This fic is short, but so beautifully written. This was one I kept reading and rereading. I believe this author also wrote several fairy tale based Sentinel fictions. Brancher was on LJ, but, now there are no posts and either the LJ was purged but not deleted, or... I don't know.
Off to download...

P.S. Sorry this is late; that'll teach me to slack off reading LJ!
Thanks for the recs!
As a substitute for "Harbor", how about The Lazarus Gap, by
Thanks!
And what do you consider epic? Long? Medium? etc. I consider long anything from 75k-150k. Epic is 151k or more. But do you count it as an epic if there are a half dozen 50k stories in the series? A dozen 20k? I realize you said it does not have to be epic but there are so many great epic stories out there. It's fun to have a place to go that just covers them.
Today's topic can be in *any* fandom (including one I've never recced in before, or even read before -- I've got a couple of fandoms I'm tracking down canon for so I can read recs that were given to me). The other fandoms are listed because they were previous topics.
Very vague guidelines for length (vauge because I usually guess at all of these numbers:):
-Short -- under 3,000 words
-Medium -- under 10,000 words -or- one long LJ post -or- under 100 KB
-Long -- 100-250 KB
-Epic -- Over 250 KB (I'm serious about my epics:)
You can rec in any length, but I'll be more likely to review things for the community if they are long or epic. And if there's a completed series that can be recced in one post (i.e., I like all of the stories in the series), I add up the lengths of all of the stories to come up with a designation.
That said, bring on the epics! (And, in case I didn't mention this before, I *love* recs in new fandoms -- I've read just about everything long in my current fandoms, and am always looking for a new fanfic fix. Thanks!)

Thanks for the rec!
(BTW, who's publishing it?)
It's a wonderful, wonderful - imo not exactly dark, but in fact pretty realistic - sci-fi original slash or rather m/m-romance, with the romance not being exactly romantic in a harlequin-way, but immensely satisfying for someone who likes gritty realism.
anyway, that was my first read of original SLASH fic. -well, apart from anne rice's vampire but that's a different thing.- and now that i'm done with (online) administration series, i'd like to read other original slash fic but i have no idea where to start searching ^.^; could you help recs? please? the longer the better :)
