Review:
What if Percy didn't *want* to work at the Ministry? Long after he had given up figuring out his housemate, a chance encounter has Oliver Wood finding out there's more to Percy than he ever expected.
This was a fic I have recently rediscovered after reading it for the first time years ago when I first got into the HP fandom. Though it has, like many older fics, become non-canon compliant after "Order of the Phoenix," I find that it has held up well over time. I love Percy's characterization and the reasoning behind the choices he has made, plus the way Oliver deals with finding out something so private about Percy and how he manages to get the other man to open up. But my favorite part is certainly the detailed descriptions of Percy's true passion and how much it shows about him.
The only caveat to this rec is that the fic ends of with a long list of thanks for the author's reviewers, but that is simple enough to ignore. All in all, this is a nice, angsty piece, with a sweet, happy ending.
