Review
I have boundless love for cracky Harlequin AUs, but I have even more love for Harlequin AUs that aren't crack at all (I also have love for New Jersey, which recently passed civil unions for same-sex couples into law, thus making this story possible).  A Modest Proposal is your standard marriage of convenience scenario, but it is so well handled that by the time House and Wilson actually get married, it honestly does seem like the only thing they possibly could have done.

I could give you details of the plot, but does it really matter?  House is in trouble, Wilson marries him, and everyone makes their lives miserable.  House is his usual cranky self (props to ignazwisdom for making him both a flaming asshole (per canon) and, simultaneously, as sympathetic as he is on the show), Wilson is long-suffering and possibly clinically co-dependent (though he has much more of a spine than he has in canon), and Cuddy and the Cottages (aka Foreman, Chase, and Cameron) are all brilliantly in character.  Enjoy!

Sometimes I read House fics, but sometimes I find them really bad too, so I mostly don't read them. However, since you're reccing this one I'm really excited!

I have to admit that I don't read House very often either; they kind of drag and too often House is either too nice or too nasty. If this hadn't had such a wonderfully crackish premise, I probably wouldn't have read it. However, I'm glad I did:)

Mmm... just finished reading it, it's great! Also, while I'm here, where can I find the fic "Detour" by Emily Brunson? It's a sentinel one.

Very good question -- I look up these stories as I need them and I'm not sure I've read that one yet. Have you tried 852prospect.org? Good luck!

[livejournal.com profile] tagetes directed me here -- thank you so much for this lovely rec! I'm pretty much ecstatic that someone liked it enough to write such nice things about it :) :)

Yay for you and yay for New Jersey!

I'm so glad you saw this rec! I'm crap at feedback, so rec'ing is really the only way I can tell an author just how much I liked his/her story (and I liked yours very much:). Thanks for writing!
