Review:

This is an AU of Five Years Gone, and man, is it dark. The primary setting of this story is in a prison full of "specials", or evolved humans. Matt is one of the ones who turned themselves into the government's custody so they could be reviewed as a potential threat, and then released back into society. Then, he meets Dr. Mohinder Suresh, the head researcher of the evolved humans, and everything goes to hell in a handbasket.

This fic is actually a sequel to a previous story kethni wrote, Doll Eyes, which was basically a hate!sex PWP, but don't worry, you don't have to read that to understand this story. I liked this story primarily because it shows this great psychological progression into obsession in Mohinder, and the kinds of abuses of power he perpetrates to get what he wants. There's also some great character growth in Matt, that shows the link between the "righteous, good guy" Matt that we know, and the brutal Head of Homeland Security that we saw in Five Years Gone. "President Petrelli" also makes a great cameo, and ditto Janice.
Slight caveat for Mohinder fans: don't read this, you definitely won't like it. He's very OOC in this fic.
