Categories: mystery, supernatural

Author's Summary: Sam and Dean pretend to be gay lovers while they hunt a monster on a bus tour of Nova Scotia. Oh, yes, it has all those clichés and more!
Review:
A story that starts with full Harlequin potentials (pretend-boyfriends, gay bus tour, you name it) very quickly turns into a hunt for not one, but TWO (unidentifiable) supernatural beings who are killing gay couples that have been on a bus tour of the Maritimes.
Engaging, thrilling, and full of surprises, the author kept me guessing until the last minute (despite I've already guessed who the monsters were before the final reveal). Let's just say the monsters have a unique diet and a very interesting method of hunting (though I wish the story explored that a bit more). Personally, I could do without the epilogue (mostly just Sam/Dean action) and would be perfectly happy if this was written as gen. The Sam/Dean UST build-up was done beautifully with wonderful characterization, and while I wasn't too attached to seeing it realized, I'm sure many others appreciated the closure.
Each chapter of the story (and there are 12 of them, including the epilogue) also comes with a lovely photo of the Canadian Maritimes. I, a Canadian with Maritimes roots, simply cannot NOT rec this story.
The Truth in the Lie (master post)
Edit: the author has added an AU of The Truth in the Lie where Sam and Dean are not brother or hunters. It pretty much stands on its own and is wonderful as well, though very different from the original story. If you like fluffy-angst Sam/Dean romance but don't read wincest, this is definitely the story for you.
