Review:
I've read a *lot* of post TS by BS fic, and the speculations on Blair's future have run the gamut from detective to fiction author to part-owner of a B&B. Most have addressed how difficult it would be for Blair to fit back into society (much less a police force) having denounced himself as a hell of a fraud and thus shot his academic career and his credibility in the foot. Rogue goes a different route, one that I think is very reasonable under the circumstances: depression. After all, Blair's life pretty much sucks at this point and there's not a lot of hope for the future. It's easy to see how he might decide to end it all.
There are a lot of good aspects to this fic -- the writing, the characterization -- but what I'm most impressed with is the depiction of Blair's depression. Rogue is right on target, not only with the outward, easy-to-describe symptoms, but also with the detachment that comes with severe depression. By the time Blair actually attempts to kill himself, you can understand it, even if you don't agree. Excellent and thought-provoking.
