Summary:  "It's not necessary to be Superman to be a hero, but Dick has trouble getting the new kid to believe that."  Dick finds the kid who would've been Superboy first.  Sometimes, being a decent guy really changes things.

Review:  I love certain types of AUs.  Usually, they're the ones that give a character who was gypped in canon and disposed of ignomiously another chance.  Now, I haven't kept up with DCU canon, so while I know there were some rumblings about maybe bringing Superboy back, I don't know if anything came of it, or if the hypothetical return was carried off well versus clumsily.  It really doesn't matter, because this fic, predating any recent canon, is exactly the kind of AU I like. 

Here, Kon -- not named Kon, because when he meets Dick he has no name yet, but I won't spoil you with what name is chosen -- has his first superhero encounter with Dick Grayson, a.k.a. Nightwing, he who was the first Robin.  Since Dick is fundamentally a nice guy, Kon starts off his life very differently than in canon.  And you know what?  It's so much healthier, and Kon is in so much better hands, I can't express how much I prefer this start to canon's.  Also, his crush on Dick, apparent in the second story, is very much in line with a typical adolescent crush, and it's sweet and sexy at the same time.
