Whoops... just remembered I'm posting for
slytherin_gypsy again. (Also, as a side note, I read these stories the moment she sent me the links and I second the rec. Great, great AU.)
Title: The Ground-verse (“Common Ground”, “Solid Ground” and “Breaking New Ground”).
Fandom: The Dark Knight.
Pairing: Bruce Wayne/Jim Gordon.
Categories: AU, Angst, Fluff, Harlequin, Hurt/Comfort, Kids.
Length: Long.
Warnings: Kid!Fic, character death prior to the story’s beginning, established relationship from “Common Ground” onwards. “R” rating applies to only one chapter in “Solid Ground”: all other chapters are rated PG or PG-13.
Author on LJ:

Website: Fic Masterlist (a bit outdated).
Review:
When his wife is murdered by a mad man, an honest cop is left to raise his two children alone. Enter a handsome millionaire with a rakish reputation who starts to ingrain himself into their lives. His true motives are unknown, but the children are soon charmed and the cop finds himself developing feelings he never expected.
Throw this harlequinesque plot into an AU ending of “The Dark Knight” and you get Noelia’s delightful “Solid Ground”, the first fic in the series. In this story Barbara Gordon, not Jimmy, was the one chosen by Dent and she does not survive. Jim Gordon is struggling between his newly appointed job, raising his kids alone and dealing with his own grief and guilt when billionaire Bruce Wayne enters the scene, connecting with Gordon’s children and making himself a fixture in their lives. Though the story starts of rather angsty, it later develops into pure (and surprisingly in-character) fluff. Watching Bruce bond with Jim’s children is just as fascinating as seeing the relationship between the millionaire and the Commissioner unfold.
“Common Ground” follows the events of “Solid Ground” and we see, among other things, Babs’s crush come to fruition (and how adorable is it, that she asks Bruce for advice on her love life?) and what happens when Bruce’s double life as Batman can no longer be hidden from those closest to him. The universe rounds up (at least for now) with the delightful Christmas one shot “Breaking New Ground”, where Babs’s boyfriend finally finds out why Bruce Wayne is always hanging around at the Gordon’s.
With some light angst, massive amounts of fluff and a wonderful rendition of the relationship between Bruce and Jim, Noelia’s series becomes a must-read for those who want to stay away from the darker side of the fandom without compromising characterization.
